Four Singles Wins Lifts Penguins Past Carnegie Mellon
Youngstown - The Youngstown State men's tennis team won four singles matches to earn a 4-3 win over Carnegie Mellon on Sunday morning at the Boardman Tennis Center. Winning matches were Luke Purser, Bassem El Mekawi, Gabriel Tolesani and Agustin Reyes.

The Penguins (3-5) dropped a tough decision at doubles as CMU (4-2) won two of the three matches. YSU won at No. 2 while CMU won at No. 1 and No. 3.

In singles play the Penguins won all four matches in straight sets.

At No. 6, Reyes gave the Guins their first win of the match defeating Tommy Cheng 6-3, 6-1. Soon after at No. 5, Tolesani completed a 6-1, 6-4 win over Kiril Kirkov.

The next winner for the Guins was Mekawi who earned a 6-4, 6-3 win over Vayum Arora at No. 4. Then at No. 3, Purser, who improved to 2-0 on the season, won 6-3, 6-2 against Kenny Zheng to claim the match for YSU.

The Tartans won the final two completed matches at No. 1 and No. 2.

YSU returns to action on Saturday when it plays Temple in a match at the Greensburg Racquet Club in Greensburg, Pa.
