Penguins Earn Three Titles on Final Day of YSU Fall Invitational

Silviu Mistreanu was the winner of Flight A singles, Dawoud Kabli won the title in Flight C singles and Kabli and Sebastian Hagn won the doubles title. Zeeshan Ismail placed first in the consolation bracket in Flight B.
In Flight A, Mistreanu played a solid overall match to defeat ASA's Tim Srkala, 6-3, 6-5. Srkala had not lost a set and defeated Hagn in the semifinals on Saturday. Srkala had been ranked as high as No. 116 as a junior player in his career. Mistreanu was 4-0 in the invitational and did not drop a set.
In Flight C, Kabli made quick work of Saint Francis (Pa.)'s Kyle Korus, 6-3, 6-0. Kabli was 4-0 in the tournament and did not drop a set.
In the consolation final in Flight B, Ismail beat SFU's Elijah Cerdan, 6-4, 6-4. Ismail rebounded strong after dropping his first match of the invitational to win three straight matches.
Head Coach Mickael Sopel said he was excited with the way his team performed during the three-day event.
"I am very pleased with the guys this weekend," he said. "Winning three out of the four possible draws is a great achievement and it shows how strong and deep our team will be in the spring."
In doubles play, Hagn and Kabli jumped out a to 5-0 lead on Wright State's Ricardo Pineda and Dan Gilbert. After back-and-forth play the final six points, the Penguin duo earned the title by an 8-3 margin.
The YSU Fall Invitational was the event of the fall for the Penguins.
