Softball Splits Doubleheader Against Wright State Saturday Afternoon

The Penguins improve to 6-12 overall and 1-1 in the Horizon League while the Raiders move to 6-23 overall and 3-5 in the league.
The Penguins, who had 12 hits in game one, used a six-run first inning started by a sacrifice fly by senior Vicky Rumph, a run-scoring single by freshman Miranda Castiglione and a two-run single by freshman Kelly Stowe. The Penguins also scored two unearned runs in the top of the first.
Rumph hit her second sacrifice fly of the game to scoring Shayla DeCapita and pushing the Penguins lead to 7-0 in the top of the third.
Caroline Krombach, Rumph and Stowe each had two hits and drove in two runs apiece.
Junior Casey Crozier picked up her fifth win of the season tossing a complete-game three-hitter with two strikeouts.
In game two, the Penguins mustered just three hits in the 3-0 loss.
The Penguins and Raiders close out the series with a single game, Sunday, at Noon.
