YSU VS Pitt basketball
« on: December 14, 2013, 05:06:45 PM »
Went to the YSU/Pitt game today.  Kendrick Perry was a superstar, other Guins played well too.  But as expected, Pitt dominated the boards, especially offensive rebounds, and was getting 2-3 tries at the basket.  Too bad we have no real athletic big guys in the middle because I thought our guard play was pretty good.

Hain is too soft down low!!! For 6-10, he has to be more physical. This team is very bad defensively. Without KP, we woulda lost by 40....

Actually we are a better team when we share the ball more and get the ball to the open guy. Teams don't respect our other players because we don't count on them enough. Hain and Weber are capable of playing with anyone.  KP is a great player but he tends to become selfish and never drives and dishes to open guys. This is a team. When they have played like a team and several guys score 10 or more we have won. Check the stats.

Without the inside game and rebounding every team will try to beat us inside.  Unless something changes the promising start is now looking like 12-14 win season.  I hope I am wrong but if you cannot defend or rebound then a team is doomed.   Slocum's inability to recruit inside players is bringing this team down.

And Slocum said Bobby is the best "post" player he's ever coached.... Well Jerry, you must have had some really bad post players in your coaching career lol

That's not what he said jagoff--he said he's the most offensively gifted post player he's coached. Has always said he has a ways to go defensively and rebounding. Get your head out of your rear (or Wolford's--wherever it resides today) and pay attention.

There is no reason to be angry over our performance in Pittsburgh.  It was a horrible mismatch with their strength up against our weakness.  Now Kansas City.... :'(

Is there any reason to continuously cut down Hain and his replacements for their shortcomings?  Defensively Hain is not a DI player.  The others are not DI players in any capacity.  We all know this.  Hain and company play very hard all the time.  Let's not make them the whipping boys for a coach's recruiting deficiencies.

Face it---if Hain---at 6'10"-- could score, rebound, defend, and block shots--do you REALLY think he'd be at YSU? Some of you mental midgets think top notch 6'10"-7' post players are lining up to come here. Bring them in and we'll hire you.

He's 6-10! I expect more than 9 pts and 6 rebounds a game.... I do feel bad for KP. The man will go down as the best men's basketball player ever at YSU. He has to do everything.... Score, rebound, assist. Fact of the matter is, Hain and Weber need to start contributing more... Easy to score against Westminster. Gotta pick it up for HL!

YSU is never going to be better than a middle of the pack team in the HL unless they decide to put more money into the program and hire new coaches. D1 is too big a stage for Slocum.

after 9 seasons with a program you would expect a coach to have more success than just being a .500 team year in and year out. At least have a legitimate shot at beating teams like Pitt, UMass and Kent St.

Seems to me that being .500 is being a middle of the pack team.

Overall ysu finishes the regular season around .500 and they finish aro und the middle of the HL. No contradiction there. Just facts. You need to get your head into reality and out of slocums butt
