Finally Some Media Coverage
« on: April 18, 2013, 11:37:49 AM »
At least eight Youngstown State baseball games will be broadcast on 1390 WNIO The Sports Animal the rest of the season, starting with this weekend's series against UIC, YSU and ClearChannel Youngstown announced.

Each of YSU's remaining home Horizon League games, as well as all of the Penguins' games in the Horizon League Tournament, will air on The Sports Animal and iHeart Radio. Zach Humphries, Youngstown State's primary voice on the Horizon League Network, will call the play-by-play. The pre-game show will begin 10 minutes prior to first pitch for each game and will feature an interview with YSU head baseball coach Steve Gillispie.

"We are very thankful for this partnership with Clear Channel that will allow us to enhance the image of our program within the community," Gillispie said. "This is a great opportunity for our fans to have access to our games on 1390 WNIO."

The first broadcast of the season will be this Friday, April 19, with the pre-game show beginning at 2:50 p.m. Other broadcast dates include April 20 (12:50 p.m.), April 21 (12:50 p.m.), May 3 (10:50 a.m.), May 4 (12:50 p.m.) and May 5 (12:50 p.m.). The Horizon League Tournament is May 22-25 at Eastwood Field, and game times will be announced at a later date.

This is what DI schools do. All sports should be covered, as a service to the university and community. I am glad WNIO "stepped up to the plate".
