It would be pretty cool to know that we beat the national champ

I expect that the best team will win the national championship tomorrow evening, and the best team ain't Connecticut. ;)

It is amazing. They're 3-1/2 point underdogs versus Connecticut. Butler has beat the spread every game in this run. I wouldn't want to bet against them.

Wow!! What an incredible run by Butler; GO BUTLER!!  Beat UCONN

What a feather in the hat for the Horizon League, not to mention the extra money for the League.

If Butler did not win the post season tournament I do not think they would have gotten in.  Now they are in the championship.  What a run.  They sure can play some defense.

Right on with the defense.

I am so impressed with Butler's composure and their fundamentals.

Howard Smith Marshall and the guards do a tremendous job with position for rebounds.

Playing against a press hurts them obviously, but they may not have to worry about that vs UCONN.

Nice contributions from their bench and they dictate pace masterfully.

Stevens makes all the right moves.

This is what can happen to a team when their players aren't leaving early every year.

Was great to see UK and Calipari go down, that's really what I was rooting for, the title game is just gravy for me now.
I HATE MIAMI.  WATERBOARDING IS NOT TORTURE.  ABORTION IS.

I missed a four-footer for par the other day--THAT DAMN BUSH!

I tell this, we had so many mentions this past week; I hope it pays some dividends. Last night we had mentions on both national TV and radio

I can see it now:

College recruit: "hey mom, I want to go to YSU. They beat Butler this year."
Mom: "never heard of that school, lets find out more"
Recruit " I just went online, it seems like they are one of the worst D1 programs in the last 25 years- nevermind"

Get real. A mention that Butler's last loss was at the hands of this wretched program is meaningless!

Nova,
100% agreed.   Beating Butler will not get us better recruits.  We need big guys who can play and Slocums top prospect is a 5-9 guard from Akron SVSM.  What the hell is he thinking?
At least we can hope for 2011 Football to be better because b-ball at YSU is going nowhere.

I cannot agree. Any mention is a good mention. {I was hoping that the national media would pick up more on the off-campus shootings}. In one week, the average person will not know any reason why we were on the news ...just that we were the team that beat Butler. You act as though we are going to attract "big-name talent" here. We are a small-time program looking to transition ...this is a great thing for us. There have been no less than a couple dozen mentions of YSU. Slocum has done well on all the interviews ..as have the players. No, this is not going to sell a rivals-100 player ...who cares? They should get little more than a form-letter from us anyways. Slocum does a good job of finding "fringe" talent, and this goes a long way there. The local impact is immeasurable. The impact on our current players will be as well.

Nova......perhaps the parent son conversation would go more like this.....
Son....geez, why would I want to go to YSU....fans on their
sports talk website, especially a "Nova person", would way rather give the
team a kick in the butt, than a helping hand of support when they are
DOWN

Don't mean to be critical of you, but you do get on my last nerve, with
your sarcastic summation.

Just being a realist. The only thing that can help this team is WINNING. A mention on ESPN will not help recruiting to a place where 10 wins is considered a good year. Either find a coach and spend the money to compete, or drop to division 2.

Pita--Nova75's problem stems from NOT having any solid, meaningful conversations with his own father. I don't believe he's necessarily a bad person, just one who didn't (and still doesn't get) any proper fatherly advice.
