Nice win especially being down 14 at one point.  Won the rebounding battle after they were getting crushed on the boards in the first half.   Hopefully the guys can pick it up with their 3 point shooting as the season goes.

YSU wins 72-62 despite being down 14 late in the first half, going 6 minutes without scoring in the 2nd half, and had 4 bad turnovers in the last couple minutes of the game and used all their timeouts.  Held Monmouth to just 24 points in the 2nd half.  After being just 9-17 at the FT with less than 4 minutes to go in the game, YSU hit 9 of the last 10 to ice it.  YSU did a much better job on the board in the 2nd half +7 after being -11 in the first half.

Farmer and Galette both had 16 points as they've established themselves as the top scorers.  Dynes only played 8 minutes and had 4 fouls.

Need to get Dynes going like his first game against Chicago State .  Not sure how he avoids fouling but he has to play smart on defense.  Really miss Zorgvol but Cris Carroll has been getting a lot of those minutes and has played well.

YSU takes on Presbyterian today at 3:30. YSU is a 5.5 favorite.  Presby is 3-3 after upsetting Stephen F. Austin last night in OT. Looks like they were ranked 281 heading into yesterday.

Noteworthy, Syracuse lost its first game of the season yesterday by 4 at Texas. They were down 16 and got it to within 1.

Syracuse game was played at the Barclay's center in New York  and not Texas.  Just saying.

Pathetic first half by YSU trailing 28-16 at halftime. Shooting under 21% from the field & just 1-12 from 3. Dynes has played only 4 mins & has 2 fouls, 2 rebounds & 0 points. Sounds like the zone is really killing YSU.  YSU was up 8-1 to start the game and has been outscored 27-8 since.

First possession & Dynes has picked up his 3rd foul. Unreal. YSU down 14

They're 3-3.... not that it matters because it's still PRESBYTERIAN! But yikes.

Unless we can begin to shoot better may be a very long year. Unbelievable our shooting was pathetic.

Was having a bad day at work and was looking forward to the wkbn broadcast and all I heard was "three ball shot goes over the basket".   Sad that you can only score 16  points in a half which might be close to a record.  Bench was 3 of 25.

It's early but I'm feeling very concerned about this group unless Prebytarian is an NCAA tourney team which I highly doubt.  Can't say a lot since there's no tv broadcast and maybe that was a blessing.   If your team can't hit 3s then maybe instruct them to shoot 20 ft in and get guys driving to the hoop.

Can't have pathetic efforts like that when you damn near beat Syracuse at their place!

I don't think I've ever turned off a broadcast until this one last night. I couldn't listen any longer once they got done 18.  This has to rank up there with one of the worst losses I can remember in a long time when you go in as a favorite...to lose by 25 and score only 42 is mind boggling.

The stats are so ugly...27% from the field (22 from 3) and 44% from FT.

I know it's still early in the season and YSU has played less games than a lot of schools, but there's some cause for concern. Outside of the Syracuse game, YSU has yet to play an entire good game. The only 2 wins have came against Chicago St and Monmouth, who are both still winless. YSU played poor first halves against both teams.

YSU is shooting less than 24% from 3 this year and only a tick over 36% from the field and under 70% from the FT line. Siem Uijtendaal shot over 42% from 3 two years ago at Canisus and over 38% last year averaging over 13 ppg. He's only 1-9 from 3 this year and avg less than 2 ppg.  Him, Dynes, and Wilkerson have been a disappointment so far.  There was talk last year from Calhoun that Wilkerson had a shot at starting last year before his injury.

Hopefully they bury the basketball from last night and can play better tonight.  Stephen F. Austin only beat Monmouth by 5 last night.
