Ah, the internet at its worst. A low knowledge character pontificating about a subject about which he is clueless.

Does this guy know that BEFORE NIL the YSU athletic budget had to be increased by about 15 million to reach parity with MAC schools?

Does he understand that the bottom half of the MAC stinks in football, and that nobody in that league could beat NDSU or SDSU?

Does he know that G5 leagues like the MAC will become totally irrelevant after the latest round of P5 power grabs?

Ah yes. Isn't the internet grand.

It made sense 30 years and it still makes more sense today.  The MAC schools athletic budgets may be similar to YSU'S in the near future.  Ohio has had the largest college enrollment drop in the country.  The cuts for  the MAC schools will surely include athletics.  I'm sure President Johnson sees no benefit to the current league affiliation just like the rest of us.  Cleveland State our ONLY natural rival in the Horizon league is also in big trouble .  The MAC probably feels like they need to expand to stay relevant if thats even possible.  Maybe an invite would make us relevant again. Otherwise we may be done if we aren't already.

What’s IRRELEVANT is FCS Football.  What’s Irrelevant is what has happened to the football program playing in a conference that the best we will ever finish is 3rd and once every 10 years maybe 2nd.  We either need to step up or drop down.  Staying where we are only destroys what little fan base we have.

FCS is literally irrelevant. Think what you want but MAC would be much better.

Rather play for a meaningless bowl game and against local rivals with slim possibility every 20 years to maybe go 11-1 or 12-0 and maybe get lucky in an expanded playoff then play in FCS that literally nobody knows or cares about.

I totally agree.   We need to take up the offer if we are invited to the Mac.  Makes sense and even I lost interest in FCS football as of the past few years.   I think with expanded scholarships we can compete with any MAC school in football and basketball.   Just think of the local kids going to the other MAC schools.  We would eliminate that.  Fcs will no longer  exist in about 5 years.

Going to the MAC would make us a little less irrelevant than we are now. As low as the MAC is in FBS it is still more relevant than FCS. The only game of the year FCS gets noticed is the money games. IAA championship on CBS made it seem relevant. FCS championship on ESPN2 opposite NFL playoffs not so relevant.

MAC gets a lot of nationally televised week night games during the season. Nobody thinks the MAC is relevant in terms of competing with big time FBS conferences but i would rather that irrelevancy that comes with some local rivalries and some national exposure then the nothingness that is the FCS.

Its gonna be more about survival then anything.  The Dakota teams will ALL leave when the opportunity presents itself.  A one league for all is the only way we may survive!

This is why we need to accept the offer if it is presented.

The basketball heavy conferences will also have challenges moving forward.  What if the MAC invites Southern Illinois, Illinois State and UNi or all 3? We are toast if something like that happens.  And don't think it can't or won't happen.  The AD and administration better not bury their heads in the sand.  Who saw USC and UCLA to the BIG10?

Some of you are extremely delusional. I have a better chance of winning the Powerball TWICE than we do going to the MAC. It ain’t gonna happen. The amount of money required alone to enter the MAC makes it infeasible.

Absolutely delusional.  My concern is we're closing to being in the NEC for football.  I can see it now.  YSU in the NEC western division with Mercyhurst, Robert Morris, Duquesne and St Francis.
