2022 Recruiting Class

I couldn't help but think of YSU Football and the struggles that have persisted for 20 years when I read this quote from Barry Switzer.

"You can't recruit off tradition," Switzer said. "S---, 18-year-old kids don't give a damn about Bud Wilkinson, Barry Switzer, Bob Stoops. They don't know who the hell they were."

I doubt if half of them know who Jim Tressel or Urban Myer is?

I think they will bring in a good group.  I heard they are working their tails off on bringing in a high impact recruiting class that includes some transfers.

As I said before, it's going to take time.  But if he gets a really good class it could be sooner.

This far the kids he's brought in were excellent.

I was hearing at the games, that DP offered some nice local talent. I guess we'll see in around 2 weeks what nice and local talent really means.

I don't understand that at all. Maybe he doesn't want local talent, only 2 out of 24 signed

As I said earlier, he does an excellent job recruiting.  He needs some time.  He knows what he needs.  Every transfer he's brought in has made an impact.  I trust him.  Watch his press conference on YouTube under the Youngstown State Athletics channel. He tells you everything you need to know.  He's going to be a great coach and has to overcome bullsh** Covid restrictions.  He needs time.  You will see.best choice we could have had as a coach, especially with our budget.  He wants to be hereand he is from the area. 

Can't get the 5'7 local kids from Mooney to compete with NDSU and others in our difficult conference.  He knows that.

No one is talking about Mooney, DP pulled an offer from one of the 5 blocks of granite on WKBN.  He's 6'5" 290 from Hubbard. A local kid, what gives?
