The public has reached high levels of ... with cancellations

penguinpower:
The response to the virus outbreak is so ridiculous it is maddening. Let's cancel all college sports and classes.
let's see, 80% of people have minor symptoms.  Corona is a common cold virus.  The remaining 20% may require some treatment but not hospitalization.  The elderly are at risk and will likely require it. the average age of death is 80 so they need to keep those people away.

The virus is not expected to overrun the healthcare system unless some of the retards abuse it.

WTF is this world coming to?
Buy more toilet paper ******* morons..

pen4life:
I personally invite you to lick the door handle at your nearest ER.

Before I have to correct the retards on the board let me begin by stating the facts.  The seasonal flu death rate iin the US is higher than the Coronavirus death rates based on the statistics available as of April 6th.

That being said, from April 2009 to April 2010 60.8 million Americans contracted the H1N1 flu. 274,000 were hospitalized, 12,500 died.  It was not  a crisis until 1,000 people died in October of that year. The government was unprepared and did not have the vaccinations made despite having a vaccination in place. There was no panic and we did not shut down the economy.  As of this morning there have been 12,857 deaths. Here is the backup: https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burden/preliminary-in-season-estimates.htm

There are a few things that I was unaware of that are major factors in this issue and it has made a big difference in why we have to have this bullsh** quarantine.

#1 hospital consolidation over the last 10 years has taken away the capacity to handle higher patient loads.
Hospital consolidation rationalization can be found here as a good high level overview.

https://pnhp.org/news/hospital-consolidation-and-the-affordable-care-act/

#2 We no longer make our own drugs and have little control of the Supply chain. Even if we wanted to get the drugs at this point we cannot get them because China is using them on it's own citizens.

#3. We don't make our own PPE to protect healthcare workers and citizens.

Now that that has been said, let's talk about the death rates.
https://www.statista.com/statistics/1109011/coronavirus-covid19-death-rates-us-by-state/

The worst death rate is in NY at 28 per 100,000 people which is a death rate of 0.028%. The seasonal flu has a death rate of 0.11%  Whic one is worse?  The f***ing flu is worse.  This disease is just more contagious so it has a better reach into society.

Here is the data from the CDC on the Flu.
https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burden/preliminary-in-season-estimates.htm

However, we are going to shut down the economy a d possibly cause a depression over this virus. This thing is already worse than the 2008 economic crisis and it was self induced.  Totally unacceptable to me.  They need to get the economy back up and running.  This 2 week event is going to kill more people due to economic outcomes than it will from the flu itself. It is f***ing ridiculous and retarded.

YSUFANSINCE1990:
Penguinpower you are ignorant.  A healthy 53 year old man died this week in Poland.  Even with social distancing as many as 100,000 people likely will die.  Then it won't be over until there is a vaccine or cure.

You can't put thousands of people in a stadium to watch a game, that is insanity with a virus that spreads like this one.   In the big picture, college football is meaningless.  Even if they play football, there will be no fans in the stadium.
