In his fifth season, with his own players, Pelini went 2-6 in the league, including losses to garbage like Southern Illinois, South Dakota, and Indiana State.  Kindly explain to me why anybody would care if he departed?

Who cares?  Go.  Stay.  Eh.

And...he doesn't get to dictate who gets the job next.  Going 45-30 or whatever isn't good enough to have that kind of influence.  One fluky playoff run simply isn't enough.  This dude is Heacock with a bigger name.

Are they really his players if he doesn't recruit? Are they D'Alesio's players?  ;)

Chief I am hearing the same.  I also heard Marlowe resigned, going to work for family business.  And if it happens, announcement coming today that Pelini to LSU.  Also hearing Carl not getting the job, that he can apply.

I hope he goes, we need a fresh start.

Reports: LSU to bring back ex-defensive coordinator Pelini
'Bo' Pelini was the defensive coordinator when the Tigers won a national title under Les Miles in 2007.

BATON ROUGE, La. — LSU's new defensive coordinator has been in this spot before.

'Bo' Pelini will be offered the job replacing Dave Aranda as the defensive coordinator of the national champs at a salary of about $2 million per year, Tweeted Ross Dellenger, a college football insider for Sports Illustrated.

Pelini served as defensive coordinator for the Tigers from 2005-07, the last year which saw the Tigers win a national title with a victory over Ohio State in New Orleans.

Pelini then went on to the head coaching position at Nebraska, where he served for seven years, compiling a 67-27 record and never recording fewer than nine wins.

Pelini has served the past five seasons as the head coach at Youngstown State.

Siniora Sucker  ;D

My boss a LSU alum told me this on the 22nd.

When Baylor hired LSU defensive coordinator Dave Aranda, the search was on to replace the highest-paid defensive coordinator in college football. Youngstown State head coach Bo Pelini is expected to become the next defensive coordinator for head coach Ed Orgeron, sources told Geaux247 on Monday. Stadium's Brett McMurphy was first to report.
Pelini agreeing to terms with the program marks a return to Baton Rouge for the 52-year old, who served as defensive coordinator for LSU's 2007 National Championship team. Pelini first arrived at LSU in 2005 following a one-year stint as Oklahoma's defensive coordinator and helped lead LSU to a 34-6 record during that time.
Earlier this month, Orgeron joined 104.5 ESPN Baton Rouge to discuss the process with Jordy Culotta and T-Bob Hebert. Orgeron was looking for a fit culturally with his program, which is fresh off an undefeated season and National Championship, and Pelini is a name familiar to LSU after the program saw some of its best defenses when Pelini was running the show.
