Youngstown State tailback Tevin McCaster, linebacker Armand Dellovade and center Vitas Hrynkiewicz earned mention on the HERO Sports Preseason All-America Football team which was announced on Tuesday.

McCaster earned first-team accolades while Dellovade and Hrynkiewicz were second-team honorees.

Last year, McCaster was a first-team All-Missouri Valley Football Conference selection while Dellovade and Hrykiewicz were second-team honorees.

McCaster rushed for 1,066 yards on 221 carries and scored 13 touchdowns in starting all 11 games in 2017. In MVFC contests, he had 803 yards on 171 attempts and 10 scored touchdowns. He had a season-high 183 yards rushing against South Dakota State and added 181 vs. Missouri State, 158 at Southern Illinois and 101 vs. Central Connecticut.

Dellovade, a three-year starter, finished second on the team with 76 total tackles, including 40 solo stops in 2017, He had 5.5 TFLs and three sacks. In MVFC play had 60 tackles, including 32 solo stops. Hrynkiewicz, a two-year starter, has started the last 27 games on the offensive line. In 2017, YSU averaged 222.5 yards rushing per game for the season and 200.5 in MVFC games. The Penguins finished with 28 rushing touchdowns for the campaign.

The Guins were also tabbed 20th in the HERO Sports Preseason Top 25. YSU was one of five Missouri Valley Football Conference schools in the top 25.
