The plan is to use Durkin as the short yardage back/ FB. There is also a possibility you could see him in a hybrid look out of the TE position. I think he will be an asset to the offense and program

Football players are always welcome, and this kid seems like a "football player" in the best sense of the words.

Just what we've been needing a 225lb RB!
LOVE watching the HUDL videos on Beede field!

This kid has two HUDL videos.  One for offense and one for defense.  Since we have about 12 6-5 240lb TE's and we've lost our 2 DE's, it will be interesting to see where Josh ends up playing.  6-5 250-260 is ideal for a DE.

Having seen him play many games for Mooney, Hewlett is the one kid on that team that I thought might be able to help us.  Definitely has the size and the toughness.  The problem is he, like the Navy recruit that he shared time in the backfield with, has a severe case of fumbleitis.  If that cannot be cured, he still might help us on defense.

With Kuhn graduating, we only have Rader, Wood and Parente (Who's more of a blocking TE) in the fold. Of course Durkin the transfer may play some type of TE role but Joiner and Burgett will be welcome additions who can redshirt and contribute going forward.

We list Kuhn as a junior and Mark Schuler is a 6-5 250 TE which gives us 5 TE's  I still think Burgett can help more at DE.

My mistake, Wood was the senior and graduated. Kuhn, Parente and Rader will all be seniors. Schuler is the punter and did not play TE so can't expect him to going forward.

"did not play TE so can't expect him to going forward."
Why not?  We had 4 pretty decent tight ends and didn't need him, but if we have need, he is a player too.
Some pretty good catches and blocking at: http://www.hudl.com/video/3/655320/5721b81d9a90ec55407654d3

Not saying he can't play TE but he's focusing on punter.

And I'm not saying he can't punt, but tons of guys have played a position and also punted.  Even in the NFL. If I remember Mark came to the program as a TE.  I even recall postes on this blog lamenting we had no punter!  Then Schuler stepped up and became the punter only after being here.

Burgett has really good hands and is a excellent run blocking tight end. He needs to work on his quickness and speed. Speaking of specialists Nate Needham will be leaving the program and explore other options from different schools

Not surprised with Kennedy and Schuler having taken over special teams duties. Needham was the kickoff specialist. We did just offer a local punter a walk on scholly. Ryan Teminsky from Canfield.
