YSU Softball

YSU softball is on an eight game win streak, and is 3-0 in HL play.  They lead the HL in: batting average, HRs. RBIs, and runs.  Only two seniors on the team.  Strong work ladies!

The offensive statistics are impressive, but the turnaround on the mound has been critical.  We are now being led by a freshman pitcher who was getting lit up like a skyrocket early in the spring but has just hurled an astounding 23 consecutive scoreless innings.  If our pitching can hold up against the better teams, we can outhit anybody.

Wick:

You are correct, the YSU ladies softball team offensive is fantastic!! They have 5 great hitters, but the pitching is still suspect. As they play better teams other than Valpo and Robert Morris, then we will see how the pitching holds up. In fast pitch softball; the teams with superior pitching will prevail over the hitting.

Back in 2003 and 2004 we had some outstanding pitching with Kelly Murphy. She just dominated with a ERA of 1.45 and 1.56. The softball team won 36 games and loss 11 in one year. If one of our current pitchers step up to those numbers, this team would be awesome.
