As the announcers said today, the teams in our league won't want to see us coming. They were FAR from embarrasing. Losing by 9 to a Big East school is nothing to be ashamed of.

Yes, but losing to Austin Peay and UMKC is embarrassing. Not to be negative, but this team has been quite schizophrenic the last couple of seasons.

Here's the bottom line: YSU guards can compete with anybody, but YSU interior defense gives to anybody.  Even lesser teams can penetrate the interior.  YSU defense needs to get its act together or there's going to be a long and difficult conference season.

Shocked it was this close with Belin out... One thing is for sure, Larson continues to look like a deer in the headlights. I'd be playing Steward over him at every opportunity.

Our lack of any sort of defense down low is the reason we will be in 80 point affairs all year long. Hain is solid on O, but still does not have it on D. We miss Eargle.

Would expect the two 6'8" recruits (hope they are still growing) we signed to play significantly next year. Larson and Chojnacki do not have it.

It would be one thing if Larson could contribute one way, either offensive yor defensively but he does neither.... Weber missing wide open after wide open 3 today didn't help either.

Did anyone actually think we would beat St. John's in New York on national TV.  There's no way in the world the refs or TV executives were going to let that happen.  Though I do think the refs called it about as even as could be expected.  KP did all he could to keeps us in the game, but with three fouls on him and Amiker it was difficult challenge to say the least.

Blaming the officiating? Really? What was the reason for the other 5 YSU losses, including at home against Austin Peay and on the road at UMKC?

YSU is not as good a team as St. John's. PERIOD!! Not a knock on YSU, just a fact.

As for YSU this year in the HL, time will tell. The HL has some teams with quality inside players for the mid-major level. One of those teams being Oakland, who has played a murderous OOC schedule. I watched CSU play Kentucky, and they will be tought to beat. Green Bay is legit, and Milwaukee is vastly improved. Wright State and Valpo are always teams to be reckoned with, and teams YSU has had a tough time beating historically.

KP is the best played in the HL, YSU has as good of guards as any school in the HL, but it takes more than that to be a legitimate contender in the HL.

And, YSU had better not sleep-walk into their game on Sunday with South Dakota. Their 2nd leading scorer(12.4), and leading rebounder(6.3) is a 6'10", 238 lb Senior. Had 16 pts and 8 reb against GB... 18 points and 9 rebounds at Kansas State. Both are teams with much better interior defenders than YSU.

South Dakota has played a challenging schedule, with most games on the road. And, they have been competitve in several of these games:
@ GB lost 89-85
@ KState lost 64-62
Wyoming lost 67-66 in OT

YSU will be favored, and ought to win. But, the same could be said for the games against AP and UMKC
