guins4,

Bohl has somewhat of a checkered past, including a scandal when he was involved with a coed while an assistant.  So he is no choir boy, but my speculation is still based upon nothing.  Perhaps it is that checkered past that led him to believe that Wyoming and their money was the best that he could do.

Bohl's fiance looks alot younger than him and she is too pretty for him. Anytime you see a cute gal with an ugly old dude you know it is all about the $$$$. She probably talked him into taking the job that pays much more so in a few year she can take him to thesome cleaner$$$$$$$

Bohl may know the game of football, but his gal knows the real game.

He'll be  60 or 61 at the end of a 5 year contract. He'll get cars, expense account, fringe bennies, sports clothing and opportunities  at supplemental gigs making more money than the average $1,000,000 a year with the Cowboys. He'll qualify   for a pension with 5 years too.  And that's a bad job.  I don't think he is too concerned, ;D

Guys ...he is a coach that has "been around the block". He heads a team that is just a few season away from DII. I do not see him being able to do more. Tressel was a very unique situation and the university took several hits in the media for hiring him.

In the words of Shark from any given sunday, "for a million dollars ill shake like a leaf of a tree if i got too coach!"  Its about the money,  nobody wants to coach forever hes got a few years till retirement to see if he can make a dent in DI  if he doesnt,  he retires a moderately rich man, instead of a filthy rich one.   Im sad for him  ::)

32nd head coach at Wyoming?  Talk about a coaching graveyard. :o  The more you think about this, the more it is really good for us.  Wyoming is a FBS program that has to take the same type of talent as MVFC schools.  Of course, their coaches will recruit higher level players but will not get them.  So for every quality player that Bohl grabs in the recruiting zone that he outlined in this article, that is one less player for NDSU or SDSU.

Great point Wick. It'll be interesting to see what happens at those schools and Wyoming

I think this is a good move for Bohl. Not much left for him to accomplish at NDSU. He can only go down as HC there. Wyoming provides a new opportunity, and Wyoming is not tha far away from being a bowl team in FBS. Being able to win the MWC yes, but not going 6-6 and playing in a bowl game.

He also will make double his current pay, with opportunity to make 3 times as much. And, he still stays in a part of the country to which he has strong ties, and where he likes living. If it fails, he can always go back to being an assistant if he still desires to coach. And, given his track record, I'd bet there would be plenty of FCS teams willing to hire Bohl as an HC. Or, he could retire.

They are hiring Chris Kileman, NDSU's defensive coordinator, as head coach....

Will history repeat itself... Will NDSU become the next YSU???

NDSU fans think that they are invincible.  Kind of like we felt twenty years ago.  History suggests that multiple championship winners don't stay on top.  Eastern Kentucky was the first to record two titles.  They disappeared from the national radar two decades ago.  Marshall enjoyed initial success in FBS then fell into obscurity.  Georgia Southern tanked after Russell left, surged back to championship status, then fell again.  Montana has been up, down, and scandal ridden.   Appalachian State fell suddenly after they booted Jerry Moore.

Does this guarantee that NDSU will fall?  No, but none of the other six multiple title-holders were able to avoid a significant decline.  The odds are against them.

Nope. The will remain another Delaware ...always good ...always relevant. Has nothing to do with coach at this point. Right now it is all uncharted recruiting territory. Once the Mountain and WAC invade, then it is over. Which I do not think will ever happen ....even Bohl will start to hit CA hard and soon forget about the Dakotas & Minnesota.
