The Youngstown State Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is excited to announce the debut of the Penguin Insiders Podcast, a brand new podcast that will be focused solely on Youngstown State athletics. The show will be available on YSUsports.com, SoundCloud and iTunes with new episodes released weekly.
Youngstown State student broadcasters Drae Smith and Mike Yourstowsky will provide inside access to Penguin athletics by conducting interviews with student-athletes, coaches, staff members and supporters. They will recap recent results and preview upcoming events while providing analysis and insight into the various YSU sports teams.
"We are thrilled about the addition of a podcast that is centered around YSU athletics to our list of digital platforms," said Director of Athletics Communications Trevor Parks. "With the growing popularity of podcasts, this gives us another great outlet to showcase our student athletes on and off the playing field. This podcast will give our fans the ability to get updated on YSU sports on-demand at their convenience. Drae and Mike, two young, energetic and experienced broadcasters will do tremendous spearheading this new venture, and I think fans will enjoy their passion for YSU athletics."
The Penguin Insiders Podcast will also help to provide fans with updates and reminders regarding ticket information, game times, schedule updates/changes and any other special announcements.
Smith, a Youngstown State graduate, is currently working as a graduate assistant with the YSU Athletics Communications Department while he pursues his master's degree. He is also the sideline reporter for radio broadcasts of YSU Football and a radio play-by-play announcer for YSU Women's Basketball.
Yourstowsky, a sports broadcasting major at YSU, is a student-intern with Athletics Communications who handles video and talent duties for women's basketball, baseball, softball, soccer and volleyball on ESPN3 and YouTube. He is also an executive producer and host on "The Penguin Rundown" which is posted weekly on the YSUsports YouTube page, and he hosts the first hour of the Penguin Playbook radio show on Monday at 6 p.m.
