Bowling Finishes Regular Season in Top 25 Poll
« on: April 06, 2017, 03:32:35 PM »
The Youngstown State women’s bowling team remained in the top 25 for the final poll of the regular season released by the National Tenpin Coaches Association on Wednesday.

YSU is ranked 25th in April’s poll, marking the third straight month that the Penguins have been in the top 25 and the fourth consecutive poll in which they have received votes. Youngstown State made its debut in February at No. 24, and it moved up a spot to No. 23 in March. YSU is the only first-year program in the top 25.

Youngstown State earned 18 wins over teams in the top 25, including three over teams in the top 10. Two of those teams, No. 4 Sam Houston State and No. 7 Stephen F. Austin, both qualified for the NCAA Tournament. Joining them in the field of eight at the national tournament are No. 1 Nebraska, No. 2 McKendree, No. 3 Arkansas State, No. 5 Vanderbilt, No. 6 Fairleigh Dickinson and No. 8 UMES. Delaware State and Sacred Heart round out the top 10 in the poll.

The NTCA will release its final poll of the 2016-17 season on April 25 at the conclusion of the NCAA Tournament.
