It would be incredibly lopsided to divide the MVFC up geographically.  The West would be way more competitive.

North Dakota State   7-1   12-2
South Dakota State   7-1   9-4
UNI                           4-4   5-6
South Dakota           3-5   4-7
UND

Indiana State           2-6   4-7
Missouri State           2-6   4-7
Southern Illinois       2-6   4-7
Youngstown State   6-2   12-4
Illinois State           4-4   6-6
Western Illinois           3-5   6-5

If one leaves, it's an IL school due to budget issues, prolly WIU.  Maybe Akron or Kent join instead?

If we divide into divisions and one of the schools you mention should join the MVFC, what would be the sixth team likely to join the frigid ice and  snow division?

I don't think it matters that much. Winters in NE Ohio are just as bad ...if not worse than the plain states. The lake effect and heaviness of the snow. Catch the wind with moisture it is like little needles belting your skin. Cars freeze shut. When I lived in Ashtabula, it was easier to walk to work than dig out on many occasions. Perhaps Missouri and maybe the southern tip of Indiana is a bit warmer, but that is not by much.

WIU would be closest to the FISD  :) , but I'd give them woeful MSU instead so as to not break up the IL schools, and provide some SOS balance.

I seem to recall a manority of the "ice and snow division" would play inside and the ice castle is in the balmy eastern division.
