I wouldn't worry, he won't be back.  He basicly had his wrist slapped by the judge, but no gun conviction, so that won't stand in his was getting into another school, and he can play so a bunch will want him!

Predictions?

I'll go with YSU 24-6

I am concerned about how our offense looks with the current QB debacle.

What debacle?  According to Webster, a debacle is defined as "a great disaster or complete failure".  Yes there is some healthy competitition, but I certainly wouldn't describe it as a debacle!

Maybe the debacle is (again) having a QB who is sometimes mistaken for a statue except when he does a turf dive when he hears footsteps? :)
Questioning Ricky's courage?

Playing devil’s advocate for the sake of fostering conversation on the blog:

Rivers should clearly be drafted, but Moss couldn’t  even win a starting spot for YSU last season.  I wouldn’t  get too hot on “coach speak” two days before the season.

Alexander may get an NFL look along with Rivers, but 4??  Which players do you see in the other 2 spots?
The way college football is played today, adequate QB isn’t enough.  You may not need great, but very good is the minimum you need to make the playoffs.

Remember we have a questionable OL, at the very least, questionable WRs and a couple good scatbacks at about 180# with no power running.   Without damn good QB play, it is going to be tough to score.

Lots of question marks, in my opinion.   Reason for optimism, ABSOLUTELY.  A lock for the playoffs, NOT HARDLY.

Also do not see Harvin on the 2 deep either.
The Leading receiver from a year ago with all the athletic ability in the world.
Careful, he may have some talent, but "all the talent in the world"?  Let's not get carried away.  Part of "talent" is the ability to concentrate on the ball and catch the ball, and that's talents he seems to be lacking.

Also, Lee Wright is not listed on the 2 deep depth chart.... And Mark Schuler, a 6-5, 250 lb TE is listed as the starting punter hahaha. Good lord, this may be a long year.
Schuler punted for Springfield.

Watched Davis in 8 games last year and never saw anything "electric" in anything he did.  Average runner, below average passer.  Everybody says (I suspect "everybody HOPES") he is throwing better.  Let's hope you backup QB fans are right.

34-32?  good grief, that's a LOT of VB!  Good job ladies.

You know Yo Show, we have never really had trouble getting pressure on NDSU; perhaps that is why we have been reasonably successful against them. In fact last year was the best D we have had since Heacock and we seemed to have the most trouble. Then again it could have been depth, as it certain was not the entire game.
I agree with you last sentence.  I think depth has been a HUGE factor ever since JT left.  We have run out of gas on both sides of the ball game after game especially with Wolford, but last season too.  Everybody wants to crush Shane for play calling, but look at the horses he has on the field.  They just can't make plays any longer.  Need to rotate young guys starting with the second series of the first game and never let up.

I think we need both of them this year for the unique challenges defenses will provide in this conference
What does that mean?

I read this blog and on one thread some guy is quoting the OC saying "Davis #1, Wells #2a and Hosick #2b, and on this tread and in the Vindy, they are quoting the HC saying we haven't designated anybody #1 but we need more than 1 QB.  Either the OC and HC disagree and the HC does not have control of his staff, or, parton my French, but one of you is full of sh**.  Not sure which it is, but wouldn't be surprised to see Ricky Thursday with Hunter's shoulder issue.

Vindy finally published an article on YSU football today on the print version (since last week, I believed).

It must be really important to them. It was on page 7 (the last page) of the sports section switched between Ohio State & Notre Dame.

I searched the Vindy website and I could not find the electronic version of article.

WOW!
Wish this was a surprise, but it isn't

Wow it appears we can start a well regulated militia just among those who discuss YSU football.

So any interest in the game or what? For some reason I'm just not as excited as I usually am for the season to get under way. I'm tired of playing the same few teams that really don't seem to provide any benefit to the program outside of home game revenue.

I am NOT going to WVU that place is a hell hole on football Saturdays. Prepare to be sworn at, maybe spit at or worse. Think twice about taking a kid and don't wander off alone. Or maybe conceal carry why not?

I think you are being unfair to WVU fans.  This has nothing to do with football, it's that way in WVa every day.  They have no jobs, wellfare has run out, the only way they survive is robbing Yankees!

Did you know the toothbrush was invented in WVa?  Know how you can tell?  If it had been invented in Ohio, it would have been called a teethbrush.

"I too am very excited Nation. It is football time in Ytown!!!!"

Amen to that!!

On the quick tempo issue, it is great when it is working.  When it is not working you are off the field in a heartbeat and your D plays 70% of the game.  Kelly got away with it at Oregon most of the time, but Ohio State skunked them in a Rose Bowl, because they had good fast athletes on D and we spent the whole night playing O, and it certainly didn't work in Philly because you didn't have the players.
There is also a huge issue with depth and we have not demonstrated any so far.  Good grief, we don't seem to be able to find 5 healthy for the OL, much less depth.  Ditto with receivers.

1845
Power, You've got me with this one, the depth and breath of your errors exceed all expectations!

"Spread or running QB's have not been successful in the professional level."
Yes, your right here.  Throw the bums like Marioti, Newton, Griffin, Bortles, Carr, Wilson and Winston out of the league.  You can't play in the NFL if you run or play in the spread.

"We have the horses to run a power O and we should do it."
You have a questionable OL, about 8 RB's that weigh 185-195#  What horses?

"Secondly, we can recruit better players in a pro-style offense"
Yes, because players who think they have an NFL future look to YSU?  Get real.
