Hate running QBs.

Wish wells would have started this season

Buddy you said a mouth full there. I've been calling it all year. The rose colored glasses folk's think's this is our way back to the playoff's.
Problem is Wells doesn't run and is hurt anyway.

..We stand with the next man up !!
OK, I hear you, but sounds like the next QB up after Mays is Pelini?!?!?!

There have been a lot of games since 1994, including a national championsihp in 1997, but it was and OUTSTANDING effort by the D, and matched by the effort on O and in the kicking game.  As Bo said, it was a terrific TEAM effort.
I want to note, I thought UNI was the dirtest team I've seen play at YSU.  Cheap shots on QB after getting rid of the ball were many and often.  Cheap shot to May's head after pitch in last drive could have been life threating, and although the flag was thrown and helped set up winning TD, the player should have been ejected.

I don't know what itnis normally like in the locker room after a win... but, I really love this clip.  LOVED the way they embraced Nate Mays.  #penguin4life
Ditto!

1AA I agree 100% with the 100% effort on Sat. night, and I agree about needing more than talent, but would help with a QB!

Damn.  Somehow those "first day of practice" injurys seem worse than others, at least from the emotional standpoint.  Hang in there Nikki, we all wish you a full recovery.

Well guys and gals ...it is Thursday. Time for predictions. All indications are a close game, but I am saying we will by at least 2-scores. 31-21 good guys.
I don't see 52 points on the board.  I'm ok with your 10 point spread, I see more like 20-10

I was on it already. The issue is the development of WATTS and the fact that they had to move the handicapped parking. They say that we have no room to do it. I suggested to Zambelli that they use one of fireworks trailers that I have seen in the road beside the Ice Castle. That was at a basketball game just last year. The issue that I see is still parking. That would spray dust and coal on the mixed faculty lot by the ticket entrance. I suspect that the change to Phantom and the fact that Zambelli has become a major player in the world stage has a lot to do with it.
I knew we could count on you to have the answers!  I certainly recognize the change in space with the WATTS, and given a choice, WATTS or fireworks, it's definitely WATTS, but I think there has to be a way.  The Indians are right downtown, with no open area to speak of and they have fireworks all the time.

Love the helmets, OK with the "blackout"
More interested in QB "looking off" a DB or going to a secondary receiver once in a while.
Also interested in what is bothering Ruiz?  He is the closest thing we have have to a power back and we can't beat teams like UNI, SDSU and NDSU with a tiny scatback on every down.

Ohio State and YSU are the only 2 schools (FBS or FCS) to not allow a rushing TD. FYI ;)
Interesting, and they both have red as a primary color.  I know there was a lot of similarities!

No clue... I don't recall seeing fireworks after a home game for a while (with the exception of the few they shoot off at the end of games sometimes).
No, it's been several years, but I liked them when we did them.  We are in the center of the fireworks industry with Phantom, and only play one night game...........  Whatever.

Where is 1AA on this?  He has every obscure statistic on everything YSU.  I'd expect him to list the YSU record in games with and without fireworks!

Wrong. They've allowed 2. YSU is the only FCS school to not allow a rushing TD so far this year.

Correct.
UNI ranks 11th in rush D, YSU 13th 95 ypg vs 97 ypg so not much to diff.
YSU 35 th in pass defense 194 ypg (last year #1 I think) UNI is 84th in pass D at 240 ypg

Lets look forward to the rest of this year. It is shaping up to make some noise! Just need to keep winning  8)
Saturday is a big game for us.  UNI was top 10 preseason with Big 12 win and have always given us fits.  We have #1 and #11 left on our schedule, both away.  We can "afford" 2 more loses, so there is NO ROOM FOR ERROR with UNI, ISU, SIU etc.  I think we have a fighting chance against SDSU, but frankly, despite 1AA's "they're done"  the buffalos look pretty much unbeatable to me.  About as tough as they did in 2011!

SD's QB was 8 of 12 for 182 through the air and 12 for 128 on the ground against UNI.  Against the Guins he was 10 of 27 for 141 tossing and 14 for 14 running.  Gives me confidence that YSU's D will shut down UNI's dual threat QB, and that Ricky will have a good game against UNI's D.
Nice report.  Thanks for the update, and we are home too.  Not sure how 2-3 UNI is ranked ahead of us, but we can fix that Saturday night.  Don't need it Saturday, but what every happened with fireworks after 7 pm games?

I don't get the reluctance to admit to inferior talent.  NDSU is better than YSU, they are also better than every other team in 1AA and most in 1A!  I saw YSU play for 6 national championships, winning 4 and I thought we had the best talent on the field only once.  The problem for me is not only does NDSU have superior talent, they are exceptionally well coached and play to the talent they recruit.  That’s what JT did, coach to the talent.  When you have the players, AND the coaching, it is a pretty tough combination.  IE 5 straight championships, headed to 6.

We still need to ramp up the talent level.  We need a min. 220# rb and huge help at DE next season.  Not to mention DB's
