"I thank God for Bo giving him a chance, it's a shame it only lasted 5 quarters before he got hurt."

I what you say is true and I have questions why nobody, including the university has any of this story, then somebody should seriously consider having charges of abuse and criminal neglect filed against Bo, and certainly not "thank God for Bo"

Let's all try to get behind Hunter and support this team.

That much I can agree with.
Does anybody have any confirmation of this many weeks old concussion story?  I find it hard to believe in this day and age a coach and medical staff held a player out for 1 game and then put him back out with clear concussion systems.  The South Dakota game was clearly Ricky's best.

What I'm saying is that running the ball takes time....time to wear on the other teams.  Against UNI we didn't run well until the second half.  We shouldn't have abandoned the run so fast.  That is my point.
We didn't run well early with Davis on the field.  When Mays came in the team kind of said "we should win this game, and we are going to win, we have to do it ourselves"  We played really hard the second half, but I think it was our emotion for Mays much more than wearing down UNI.

I think it is up to Wells whether he wants to return for 4 games and the playoffs, with no guarantees.   He now has two years left to play elsewhere, if he returns he loses his junior year.

 Should be interesting.
Somewhere else had no guarantees either, and YSU offers a pretty good bet at a playoff position and wherever else may well not have that either.  He goes P5 like some here have suggested and there is a damn good chance he sits both seasons.
Anybody watching the last 3 years and has a minimum amount of football sense knows Davis can't play, and anybody watching Mays few plays plus his high school highlights has no reason for optimism either.
I love wishful thinking and in sports it is great. I am rooting for the Tribe and I know Chicago is far better, but the coach has to be realistic.

'Our yards per carry went down last week because the bonehead passed the ball too early"

HUH?  Our yards per carry went down because we were beaten up front most of the day.  Don't forget, our yards per carry the week before were, what 3.6?  that 22 play drive was because we were "3 yards and a cloud of dust".  and we ended up going on a couple of 4th downs just to barely get 10.  Against good competition our OL has been marginal at best.  QB's under pressure, not much running room.  "Throwing early" is a weak attempt to transfer blame to the OC from the OL.

I've said much of this before, but bare with me.
One, our vision is short sighted.  We compare Davis' running to Wells.  Obviously he is better, but not compared to top running QB's in the MVFC.
Watch the Mays high school highlight film on HUDL http://www.hudl.com/video/3/1215093/5721c10d0428ae20e4b9a265
Look at how slow his decision making process is, how inferior the competition is, and how may of his passes are those big loopy tosses to wide open receivers that almost look like punts.  I want these kids to succeed, but frankly it looks to me like it's Trent next year and get recruiting this winter.
This "green" stuff is excusses for "can't play at this level."  The kid for UNI steps in and goes nuts.  Good grief, he almost beat us!  Last year Wentz goes down for NDSU and Stick steps in and does a great job.  Yes he had a good team, but HE beat us in the 4th quarter last year.  They can play, our guys a good kids, giving us their all, and just don't have it.

YSU favored by 16.5.  O/U 52.5.

Geez..a three score favorite.  As much confidence I have in a victory, I'd stay away from both the spread and the O/U.  SDSU only minus 6.5 @ISU r.....very tempting.

I'm not saying the team should lounge, drink beer, and binge Netflix.  I'm just saying it's a great opportunity to address weaknesses and work on fundamentals with a new QB.  These are skills he will need in the playoffs.  Similarly, I thought Davis should've started the MO St game last year for similar reasons.

I LOVE the under.  52-1/2???  No way ISU scores 17, so maybe 14 max, that means YSU scores 38 and I still win the under?  Anybody see this team scoring 38?  No, me either.

I think we should cancel all the games and just go with this Massey guy.  If he was that good, you guys would all have Trump/Clinton money betting on the games!

YSU1 has it 100% correct, there are no easy games in the MVFC.  This instant we think ISU is easy, it's 5-3 for the season!  With our offense, every game is going to be close even if we pitch a shutout!   The last couple games we are averaging 12 points a game.  I don't see how we can score many more without help, so you get a pick-6 (something we seem to give up a lot) or a punt/kick return or a 65 yard TE drag accross the middle like Saturday's first play and you're in a 1 score game is a big quick hurry.  Look at what the buckeyes did Saturday night.  Couple mistakes and ballgame.  We have no cushion.

If Pelini is determined to have a running quarterback, we need to find one quickly.  All the quarterbacks on our roster were recruited by Wolford and Montgomery, who were looking for  a completely different style that Pelini is wanting to play.

I had no idea Wolford recruited Hosick?
Where are all the guys on this blog who have been telling me from spring practice on how great Davis and Mays were as QB and throwing the ball?  Hate to say..............I told you so, but...........

A healthy Wells has always been our best option, IMO.  However, that option hasn't existed since the spring, and maybe not even then.  He is NOT healthy.  Plus, you dump a young man that had worked hard for you, going out and bringing in a run/throw guy for JC and then giving the job to a run first, maybe throw if he must, classmate and you expect the guy to be loyal?  You gain loyalty be being loyal.  We shafted Hunter; he is going to shaft us.  Like it, don't like it, but live with it.
I'm also not sure you are blaming the right guy in Monty.  He scored a ton of points under Wolford. Look it up.  When Bo came in and made him go to a running QB, the wheels have really come off.  I think the change in QB style was executed by Pelini and he will ultimately need to answer for the ineptitude.

Throws like a girl ...I just think it is funny the way you phrased that. Now Opey you ought not to say that.
Glad you enjoyed it, I was trying to be funny.  Ricky does not "throw like a girl", but he also does stares down his primary receiver and never looks at a second receiver.  If the primary doesn't brake open immediately he runs.  That formula is going to get us about 85 yards per game passing, him injured, and us with no QB at all.

1736
Kind of off the subject, but U.N.I. made the switch at quarterback this week and threw for 418 on 25 of 33 attempts in a 61-7 win over Missouri St.
The UNI guy that started against us was TERRIBLE, kind of like Davis.  The sub had a scary good arm (kind of like Wells) and had the last play of the game go incomplete in our endzone, which would have been an incredable comeback win.

No but the second coming of Kurt Hess would be nice. Mays already has better vertical speed than Hess. If he can give us Hess' horizontal speed ...he will have a great YSU career. Oh yes, throwing as well would be nice :)
[/quote]

vertical and horizontal speed vs Hess?  WTF are you talking about, big guy?
He throws like a girl, that is all the Mays QB issues worth talking about.  Even DAVIS throws better than Mays, and that's not a vary high bar.
Davis, the QB that throws better than Mays and runs better that Wells.  What a resume!
Maybe Bo should go to PU.  With no safetys, DE's and these QB's we could go 2-10 next year.

Guys lets give dana a bit of a break here. Should he have asked the question? Yes,

My question, why cut him a break?  As YOU note, he didn't as the damn question.  He is a professional reporter, not a college player.  I think it is reasonable to expect professional behavior from a paid professional.

Such detail in these forecasts!
I don't see how you see YSU getting 28 etc.  They just don't have a QB.  Can't score a bunch without throwing
Unfortunately, I see is something like  17-7  maybe 14-10  bunnyrabbits.

They are rumors anyway. It is all nonsense.  Pelini said he wasn't coming here and he did anyway.

Not sure I follow you here.  Yes, of course they are rumors.  Until the press conference, they are rumors.  But in my, and others, Balash has done a poor job of trying to get to the facts here.  To not even ask him brings up real issues of credibility, because obviously Pelini has preapproval of interview questions and Balash is a shill not an interviewer at all.  He is guilty of misrepresenting himself and his profession
