... confirm that Boatwright's hamstring injury is at least season-ending ...probably career.
Sorry to see that happen to a good kid, hope he makes it back.

As for polls, always enjoyed proving them wrong.

I figured when he showed up in yet another brand new car for the mandatory team meeting with the new coach the other day that he had made his mind up and was just thumbing his nose at the press.

Again, I only stayed for the half ...so what else did I miss?

Another 1/2 inch of rain....the Ice Castle looked more like Niagara Falls.  ;D  Second half went by fast due to the continuous clock, but overall the second half was largely a repeat of the first.  Red team had a couple of drives going but fumbled them away.  White team had a potential disastrous fumble in the 2nd when a pitch on the reverse got loose, but ended up recovering it and running off another 3-4 minutes.

Line play on both sides was intense, but the protection largely held.

I know there's been a lot of 7:00s and quite a few guys in at 6:00.  Been told the line lifts are more geared to power than previously.

All I have to say is that it got pretty $%*&$)%& cold watching practice yesterday.... Nothing like taking off your cap and realizing you have over a 1/2 of snow sitting on top it. ;D

Okay, I'll bite.  Was up yesterday, watched the entire practice, and went down on the field afterwards.  Size has increased and while there are always a few exceptions for the most part it appears that so has the strength.  Size tends to make things look slower, but the line play to me looked as quick as the fall.  Injuries, didn't pay too much attention, but DJ Main's is a carry over from last fall, and Boat's was a freak accident yesterday - he could have had legs the size of Goliath and it would still have happened.  Still too early to tell what we'll see in the fall, but my guess is that we'll see a solid product on the field.

Thanks, he's looking forward to mixing it up a little this spring.

Saw a lot of the wrong way to lose weight back when I wrestled, but he wasn't trying to cut weight, just found it impossible to take in enough calories to maintain.  The coach ran the program more like a college program than a high school one: 1 1/2-2 hr lifting/conditioning in the morning, then classes, and a 3-4 hour evening practice session session, followed by 30-45 minutes of conditioning 5 - 6 days per week.  Even on days when they had meets they would go in early to do an hour or so of "light conditioning".  There weren't too many kids that needed to worry about cutting weight after that.

He wrestled in elementary school in the Hwt divisions (and usually in an age group 2 years older than he actually was), but was too big at 238-240lbs to wrestle middle school (also didn't really like the coach). Lost 20lbs during freshman football and then at the urging of his coach went back to it -> Div-I varsity 215 as a freshman (went in at 218 lbs, finished the season at 188lbs) and varsity 285 as a sophomore(went in at 238lbs finished at around 218 lbs), before deciding that he wanted to dedicate himself to getting bigger and faster for football and opted to start working out with Reggie Germany (OSU and Buffalo Bills) the winter of his HS Junior year until reporting to YSU last summer (still works out with him when he's home).

Lost 4-1 in the finals to a kid from Washington C.H.  So probably 2 take downs to 1 escape if I had to guess (could also have been a take down & 2 pt near fall to an escape though).  Regardless, an accomplishment to be proud of.
