« on: September 14, 2022, 08:15:55 AM »
Looks like we play 15 home games highlighted by non conference games with Ohio University and Tennessee martin.  Plus Southern.   We also play Westminster and Grace.    Notre Dame on the road along with Central Michigan.   plus the Horizon league.   Not bad schedule.   Thoughts anyone?

YSU Penguin Athletics / Line of Scrimmage
« on: November 24, 2013, 08:11:31 AM »
In order to compete in the MVFC it obvious that we need to win the line of scrimmage.   Our conference is like the old Big Ten.  Big and and physical lines are the norm in our league and we do not have them. Yes we have done a good job improving the skill talent but our talent where it counts the most is piss poor.  YSU got dominated at the line of scrimmage the past three games and it was the reason we lost them.  Enough of recruiting these 5'-9' 160lb slot receivers and lets get some real big, mean studs our our lines.

YSU Penguin Athletics / YSU Hoops-Sporting News
« on: September 01, 2013, 06:10:37 PM »
Even though we are just beginning football season I see the Sporting News has the college b-ball 2013-14 preview out on newstands and it has YSU picked 3rd and Kendrick Perry as its Horizon POY.   Hard to believe that the season is just over two months away.

YSU Penguin Athletics / Fire Wolford
« on: October 27, 2012, 11:43:12 PM »
We all know Wolford cannot coach and was a big f****** mistake by Strollo but his recruiting is obviously not as good as we have thought.   If we recruited well our defense would not be this pathetic. Wolford is paid well over $200k  and all we get is 13-17 in his 3 years here.   Strollo needs to just own up to this mistake and fire his a** now.   Make a statement and don't put up with this crap.

YSU Penguin Athletics / Larry Johnson R.
« on: September 03, 2012, 09:10:00 PM »
Seems like we got an extra B-ball recruit for this year in 6-5 Larry Johnson Jr. from Michigan.  He is the son of the same Larry Johnson that played for those great UNLV teams in the 1990's and former NBA player. Click on the YSU b-ball roster and click the empty picture boxes and his profile shows up.  Interesting.  Does anyone know if he is any good?

YSU Penguin Athletics / Committement
« on: November 22, 2011, 05:48:48 PM »
Looks like we got a committement from OL Christian Wilson 6-5, 300 lb out of McKeesport, Pa.   I got this checking the ESPN recruiting.  He had offers from Ohio U and Buffalo.    Lets hope he is good.

YSU Penguin Athletics / Playoffs
« on: November 20, 2011, 10:22:00 AM »
MVFC only gets two in the playoffs.  7-4 Ill. St not in the dance. They took 7-4 E. Kentucky ahead of them.  MVFC once again not respected.

YSU Penguin Athletics / 2012 Season
« on: November 17, 2011, 09:16:31 AM »
Whether we make the playoffs or not this year the athletic dept should be in overdrive mode to come up with solid plans to market next seson and the possibility of a great year in 2012.  With all of the returning talent and the team being so young it is exciting times at Stambaugh.   Now the Mahoning Valley is seeing the upswing in the program and this should mean more butts in the seats.

Come on Ath. dept. lets be proactive and market the program so everyone wants to come out.

Go Guins!

YSU Penguin Athletics / Desmar Jackson
« on: April 09, 2011, 10:53:07 AM »
ESPN website is reporting that Desmar Jackson (Harding) is leaving Wyoming.  He averaged about 15ppg. and has 2 years of eligibility left.  Does anyone know if he is interested in coming back and transfer to YSU?  This could be a big get for our program but he would have to sit out a year and take a chance that we may get a new coach after next year.
