At Milwaukee today the refs controlled the game early and let Milwaukee play very aggressive and not call fouls which killed our inside out game. And we had some things not go well for us and Milwaukee made some shots I didn't think they would.  On to GB.

I see we are 9.5 point underdogs. Our freshman and sophomores need to have a good game. And we need to go inside.  Hoping for the win which will show our progress this season.

I see these opinions all the time.  I think people need to accept the reality that YSU in particular and Youngstown and area in general are short on capitol.  YSU is doing the best they can with limited resources.  One might argue that these limited resources should be allocated differently, but they are limited.  It would be nice if the basketball arena could be updated, if we could add more sports, if we could fund minor sports more, and if downtown Youngstown could be updated and expanded.  We just do not have the funds or people in the community with those funds.  Look at Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Akron Canton, and you see more prosperity. Don't blame the President or Athletic Director for a lack of funds.

I couldn't find the link to ESPN+ so I listened to the game.  Was it on and archived? Even the YSU athletics site did not show a link to ESPN+.

Great win in the league on the road.  The freshmen are beginning to produce.  I see Morgan only took 1 shot in 15 minutes. Left to his own I think he might shoot each possession.  Need to play under more control and pass the ball to open teammates. I thought we shot the 3 too much and gave up at times on the inside game.  But it was a great much needed win for the program.

I see we are 7.5 point underdogs vs Milwaukee.  It is a winnable game I think.  I think I heard Coach Calhoun say that Naz could have played the last game except for some delay so hopefully his health is fine and he is up to playing.  We need our inside guys to step up and be a bit of a threat.  With that we have a good chance.  Can't believe that Pendersen is not productive.  I was at the Pitt game and he did well against them and seemed to have a bright future.  Not sure what happened.  Need to get the ball inside!! Hopefully Quisenberry continues his excellent play and stays out of foul trouble. I think 2 of his fouls were charges without the ball.

Another loss with the same basic mo.  Ahead significantly, but can't hold the lead. Good signs are Quisenberry and some of the other new players.  He definitely needs to play over Morgan who takes too many bad shots and is turnover prone driving into double teams, poor passing, and to the basket with much taller players guarding him. Also our bigs are not as effective as needed, especially Pendersen. The foul shooting numbers are something also with GB going to the line more than twice as often as us. Some of it is they attack the basket, but some is a lack of respect for us in the league I think. That was mentioned post game by Calhoun.  I like that he is willing to go on the post game show after losses, not the way it was with the previous coach.

Hopefully we can get a win at Milwaukee tomorrow.  It is needed for the team to grow.

I see we are a 12.5 point underdog.  Not very promising! Haven't see anything about Naz so I guess he is out.  Too bad, he was a nice young player.  In the game against Oakland a standard finish occurred.  We are ahead, have a few bad possessions with no scoring, and for sure leave a player wide open for a game loosing shot.  We have no go to player who in the clutch can take over and score. The Delaware transfer is close to that, but none of the others have the ability to make a shot when needed at the end of a game to close it out.  Hopefully one of the new guys can develop into that.  And Penderson on the inside should be much more of a force than he is.  Watching the girls play they have inside players that can score and no mater what, they get the ball inside to get open outside shots.  The men's team just doesn't do that at all successfully.

We just have no inside game.  We have trouble getting open outside shots! No dribble penetration and any pass inside is contested and often stolen.  We pass the ball around beyond the 3 point line.  Too bad. And no Devin Morgan, not sure why.

First league contest tomorrow. Both teams have similar records and both lost to Akron and WMU.  So I guess it should be a close game.  We will see if the preseason has improved our squad.  Predictions?  Have not seen a line as yet.  Seems like the coaches son is their top scorer.

I think we are better now than at the beginning of the season.  Not doing all the full court press and giving up open 3's or layups.  Our bigs are not strong enough to compete with really good bigs.  But in the league only Northern Kentucky has one as I recall.  Lets see how the first weekend in the league goes to see where we really are.

I have followed YSU sports for a long time.  Always thought we would get into the MAC and then have more local rivalries, closer travel, etc.  But I have given up on that thought due to the cost involved and the YSU budget situation and the local economy.  Just doesn't seem possible.  At one point thought the MAC would come down to near our level which we could afford, but it doesn't seem possible.  If we would have gotten in in 1995, not sure what would be so today.  It was close.  For me I enjoy the games we are in and accept that is where it is.  Like that girl you wanted in HS, maybe you are better off without her.

In this game I agree the competition was not great.  We didn't just come down the court and shoot wild 3's all the time and then press and give up open 3's or layups.  And we at least tried to play half court defense. Our players are athletic and reasonably long and tall, but only Covington seems to be able to score from multiple areas on the floor and play defense. Our best player in my opinion. Naz is a great rebounder, but not strong offensively. Most the remaining players are hot and cold and we rarely get inside driving to the basket or passing to the post.  And with that can't really score with our limited shooting ability.  That may improve as we try to get the basket.  There is hope if we play to our players real ability, not their perceived ability.

Watched the last 2 NDSU games.  What impresses me most is that they really don't have supper athletes at most positions, but to they play so fundamentally sound!  Tackles in space by their db's is outstanding compared to our play.  It is like our team is not fundamentally sound in many areas including tackling. I don't know how may times our number 7 is in space and beaten on a tackle. Maybe NDSU players are better athletes, but to me they don't look it compared to our players.  If we did a standard speed agility test like the NFL Combine, I think many times our guys are better.  But not on the football field.  At least my opinion.  It is like our coaching does not do enough to get our players fundamentally sound in blocking and tackling.

I heard on the broadcast that the head coach was replaced 2 games into the season.  Last year they won their league and went to the NCAA Tournament.  What happened?
