Crenshaw is horrible as a QB, we will never do anything with him in the Missouri Valley League

Yes, Akron has over spent in its athletic programs and has major (millions of dollars) deficits for 20 years. But, Akron will continue to stay in the FBS football division at all costs. They will rob "Peter to pay Paul" in all other departments at the University. We have been saying the MAC schools will have to step down to the FCS level for 20 years and they still haven't budged. They will find creative ways to keep the Zips in the FBS.

I would like YSU to have games scheduled with the MAC teams every year instead of the likes of Slippery Rock, Butler and the likes.

Best players:   Ron Jaworski, Cliff Stoudt, Tamron Smith
Best game:     !st Alcorn St (Air McNair) super exciting game - 2nd Marshall 1991 championship game
All time Best play: Williams catch vs Marshall 1991 for championship
Best road venue: Penn St., Pittsburgh
Worst road venue: Akron
Best opponent player: Steve McNair 1994 - he supposedly had a injured leg, but passed for over 500 yards.
Best radio team: Don Garner
Conference: MVFC but would rather have us in the MAC - I know, money is the draw back
What must be done? Must do a much better job of recruiting and find coaches to shapen the players game.

YSU Penguin Athletics / Re: YSU vs Houston Baseball

YSU baseball defeats Pitt 7-5. It's great to see the baseball doing well in early season play, usually their getting hammered. I hope they can continue the good pitching and the timely hitting. The don't want the see the bubble burst.

Way to go YSU, great game!! Quiz again was phenomenal; 41 points and 7- 3 pointers.

I'm impressed; the YSU baseball team took the last two games in the series with Houston. What's impressive is YSU' pitching holding Houston to 3 and 5 hits respectably. Must of been the warm weather in Houston.

Great job team; kept up the good work. Maybe this year's team will win 20+ games.

A very nice win at Detroit! We again almost blew a 12 point lead with only 3 minutes remaining in the game, then Antoine Davis (Detroit) scored 3 straight 3 pointers. This guy can score quickly!! The nice thing we have 15 wins and won our 4th game on the road. Quiz's foul shots were critical at the end.

YSU Penguin Athletics / YSU BB vs IUPUI
« on: February 01, 2020, 08:15:27 PM »
I watched on ESPN3, YSU looked very good the 1st half, but during the second half, the passing was poor, the shot selection poor, the defense was poor. The team then blew a 17 point lead in the 2nd half. With about 4-5 minutes left in the game leading by 5 points; Quiz caught fire and took over the reins. He drove to the hoop and make two 3 points shots and the lead jumped to 12+points. Nice win, but IUPUI is a poor team.

This no surprise for me. Good luck to Bo and his family at LSU. Now we must find at suitable replacement. I don't know who may be available, but I hope Jim Tressel and the staff can come up with a great replacement for Bo.

YSU Penguin Athletics / Re: north dakota st wins again
« on: January 13, 2020, 02:02:28 PM »
The Missouri Valley is and has been the best FCS football conference for many years; North Dakota St. has solid coaching and makes few mistakes, they are a strong and formidable team. They remind me of the !990's teams of YSU under Tressel. Will YSU ever again regain its national prominence? I would love to see YSU regain their competitive spirit and vying for a national championship.

IT'S GREAT TO HAVE A POWER 5 TEAM COMING TO YOUNGSTOWN. I HOPE THEY HAVE A GOOD TURNOUT AT THE COVELLI CENTER.
IT WOULD BE VERY NICE TO HAVE YSU PLAY A VERY COMPETIVE GAME WITH WVA, BUT MY GUT FEELING IS WVA WILL WIN BY 15 POINTS. I HOPE I AM WRONG.

WOW! Who would have guessed: YSU leading Ill St. late in the 4th Qtr. IT LOOKS LIKE WE WILL BEAT A RANKED TEAM. The defense was superb.

YSU Penguin Athletics / Re: SDSU week and homecoming
« on: October 12, 2019, 11:06:49 AM »
This is a very important win at the ICE CASTLE with SDSU. We must improve our play calling, some have mentioned pitch outs for the outside runs; anything but 3 plays up the middle.
Without Mays it doesn't appear to be doable. I hope for a large crowd to cheer the team to give them some added momentum and maybe a turnover.

GO PENGUINS

We're totally being out coached!! The secondary coverage is pitiful. We keep running up the middle. I don't think we will pull this one out.

YSU Penguin Athletics / Re: UNI Week
« on: October 02, 2019, 01:36:36 PM »
Well the real season starts, the MVFC. YSU and most all visiting team have a nightmare playing in the ultra loud UNI mini dome. YSU's record is horrible there.
It may help us that UNI has both of their starting tight ends out for this game with only two freshmen as back ups , but UNI will be hungry for a win after losing to Weber St. in Utah.
We have a questionable Matt Jones being able to play with a bad ankle, he is a leader and a major force on our offensive line. Without him, the running game and passing game will be marginalized.

GO PENGUINS!!! Find a way to win at the UNI dome
