Season is done. SD did what the wanted and even disrespected us by doing the Penguin dance on us
Dollar General budget, gives you this product. Offense has no explosive players other than Oliver, average Rb’s and a system QB. Defense what Defense.
We will never be an upper tier team in this conference. Ever.
How long are we going to stay in a conference that has literally blew up this program and other than a lucky catch has done nothing but be everyone’s homecoming game.

As stated before. Road games come down to special teams, turnovers and penalties. Limit the latter two and have solid special teams and this will be a win.

« on: October 29, 2023, 11:50:27 AM »Nice win, we did what we had to do. D just is not where it needs to be, moments of looking good but still needs to step up. O looked good for most of the game but some of the play calls drive me crazy. Couple of times 3rd and 1 and we pass, especially the last time near the end of the game where we needed to be running time off the clock. No run game to speak of.
Zebras were very very bad. Did not favor one team over the other, spread their ineptness to both teams. Not sure what they get paid but it is too much.
Agree on refs. They were inept. Penalties just seemed to be random. Missed a ton of calls and made phantom penalties. Very poor.

Have to put a whole game together. Sadly, even when we played SIU we struggled enough on offense that they went for it 2 times inside their 30 because they knew they could stop us offensively. ISUr has the best scoring defense in conference and averages over 400 yards on offense averaging over 35 points on offense. This is no cakewalk. Won’t be able to make this game but will be watching from out of state. Lose this and say goodbye to the playoffs for another year.

Ok. Now that we are like a Jekyll and Hyde type team, what do we need to do to run the table starting this week with ILSU? We have dug a deep hole. My biggest concern is our inability to put 4 quarters together. We have spurts where we look like a NC level team and times we look like we can’t beat Ursuline. Disappointing that we score 41 and 31 on the road and lose.

We can’t go into this dome and put up 35 points and lose. Going to come down to turnovers, penalties and special teams like it usually does on the road in the MVFC.

Hate to say I told you so. Turnovers, penalties and special teams cost us this game. Always does on the road in MVFC.

If this team stands any chance at making the playoffs they need to win 2 games in a row and prove they can win on the road. This is a vanilla team we are playing. We have to be disciplined on defense. Lull you to sleep on running and catching you off guard with long play action passes. Bread and butter. The one area that confounds me is our lack of tight end passes. The teams that have consistently beat us in this conference have had excellent tight ends. We never run our tight ends down the middle of the field to occupy safety’s. I think it’s an area that defenses take advantage of if they know the tight end is not a threat. It’s an area that we need to do better at.

Great point on the TE's. Last week we had a new offensive formation with 2 TE's up close in the red. We handed off to the TB, so we really had no use for the TE's, even as a decoy. Maybe we will start doing something with them. I noticed the NFL and Big-10 are going back to the two TE sets.
