YSU Penguin Athletics / Re: Butler 71 Pittsburgh 70
« on: March 20, 2011, 09:25:06 PM »
On ESPN radio this morning around noon there was an interview with Mack of Butler. He was asked about his foul, then about the end of the game and last question asked was "Well your team lost a lot of games this year compared to last year in the Horizon League, was there a moment that turned things around for the team"  replied Mack, " After the loss at Youngstown Sate, we as a team had a long ride back to Indianapolis, and practice was very much more .......focused."

We helped get Butler ready for the tournament?

Pita, I hope you did not think I said football makes money.  I said it does not make money at YSU. It does not pay the bills.  Bills paid for YSU sports come from the general fund by way of a budget signed off by the Athletic department and the trustees.  I have viewed the NCAA records on income and expenses and there is/are some interesting "bookkeeping" going on by the majority of universities.  We are no exception. We generate monies from football yes it is true but not enough to fund all the other sports. Student activity fees taken from the general fund keep our losses at a minimum.  All this information is available on the NCAA site. You know what though, it is ok if you believe what you want. Not bothered at all am I.  Pita you are a true fan.

South Beach and 1AA, best conversations on this web site in quite some time.  Those of us who know what is going on, as to what a great job Strollo and his short handed department performs day in day out, can only be amused at the writings and unsubstantiated statements of those on this site who are clueless.
As Dr. Smith would say "If you don't believe me Look it up"!

yes South Beach is correct.  He showed me the site and had proof as reported by the NCAA.  If it were not for our student fees, we would be real toast.

Pita, I have viewed parts of most games during the championship week.  Can't wait for the start of the "dance" on Tuesday.  Being a North Carolina fan for many years, they are my pick for the final four.  Not saying they will win it but you never know how the ball bounces.  I know I will never see our Penguins in the NCAA tournament soon but hope is eternal.  Brings back memories of our YSU team almost winning the OVC championship game at Middle Tenn. We would have played North Carolina at Notre Dame in a first round game.  Almost got there didn't we?

I have been told (unidentified source) that we should not worry.  Waiting for the weather to stop raining.  Source of heating has now been decided, heat will originate from below ground (very green minded saving energy and overall cost). Some extra contracting and planning involved.  No problem.  Keys are scheduled to be turned over to YSU just before Christmas of 2010.  All is on schedule.
