YSU Penguin Athletics / Re: Pitt QB Transfer
« on: December 03, 2017, 08:28:27 AM »
Excellent historical reply 1 AA. As I remember the events from the hiring of Strollo you have hit it correctly. The many Strollo bashers really do not have a clue as to how an athletic department on our budget works. I applaud you to keep on. In talking to Strollo, he does not view this site. In visiting the site daily, I am so saddened at the criticism of our school and our athletic department. I am sometimes/many times amused at their lack of pride and enthusiasm for YSU athletics. If you visit "other board sites" the criticism is not there and the emphasis is on talking about present and future events. I wish we did more of that especially on recruiting, facilities, and scheduling. Many of my friends have quit looking at our site or even posting. However, I will continue to view till the nay people eventually go over the top in their criticism...........and the sadness is to much for me to deal with. Keep up the good work 1AA.

YSU Penguin Athletics / Re: IUPUI as the next Horizon League member?

You old geezers...........what does knowing about IUPUI or Robert Morris have to do with North Carolina or any other area of the country have to do with welcoming a new member into the Horizon League.

Not in favor of this move. Robert Morris brings much more to the table including their new facility and proximity to Pittsburgh and a natural rivalry with YSU.

Construction will be delayed for a year.  A new design featuring a far better looking East Side than the original plans.  New architectural drawings highlight the use of metal facing and glass. The look will be so much better than the present plans. Drawing and specifications are being ordered. Completion date will be the start of the 2018 football season.

YSU Penguin Athletics / NCAA Play-Off Committee announces block buster.
« on: November 01, 2016, 04:49:59 PM »
1AA just heard this on the NDSU forum. Can you research this for clarity. I often miss  what I look at.
Morehead State Athletic Director Brian Hutchinson, the new chair of the FCS Playoffs Committee, dropped the bomb that the committee would be releasing a WEEKLY RANKING on its top ten before Selection Sunday.
The first reveal comes on THURSDAY.

Three points the chair stated in the interview with NDSU broadcasters were 1. Looking to possible start of another bracket.  2. In the tournament the committee will attempt to avoid conference matchups and regional matchups. 3. Games won (strength of schedule) especially the out of conference games (dismissed are games against Division II and NAIA teams) are very important since once the conference schedule begins the strength of conference schedule is all they have to work with. Playing teams such as Eastern Washington and Montana and winning are extremely important.

Remember their are 24 teams selected now but the top ten teams in the early poll certainly meet the criteria now for selection by the NCAA committee. This will be the  first time revelation of where teams stand is publicized well ahead of selection Sunday.

YSU Penguin Athletics / Re: YSU vs WVU
« on: September 11, 2016, 09:21:43 PM »
Listened to the post game press show on the radio.  Coach Holgorsen was very kind and said good things about our effort. A couple of comments from him.  He thought we were well prepared and YSU came to play and it took a half to wake WVU up. The long passes for TD's were a result of our safeties having to come up to support our linebackers who could not plug the run holes.  Once they kept edging up, and they were involved in run stopping, and there was no threat of a blitz, their QB was able to launch his passes over our heads. he thought his team was conditioned well in the heat (none of WVU player had leg cramps) and it was just a matter of time when WVU would wear us down.  He was not happy with some calls from the officials but refused to comment on calls against YSU.  There were other comments but he seemed honest and fair in his press conference and heaped a lot of praise on YSU and said he knows we will have a successful season - we are good.

We were seated behind the YSU band but next to a student section.  Many obnoxious students very drunk and rowdy. No sign of police or ushers to control this bunch. Could have been a scene but most of the YSU fans ignored the comments. Late in the game one fan was being thrown out. He was a YSU student and I thought to myself "why don't you throw out the WVU students too".  But I knew the answer to that. On the way out of the game one of our group almost went over to the WVU student to get involved but cooler heads prevailed.

On the other hand we were greeted with good wishes from those in the purple tailgate lot and a few in the stadium. We appreciated their respect for us.  Found a great place to eat and drink called the Varsity Club. Although we had to wait to enter by being placed on a list, once inside the food and drink were excellent and we were treated to a round of drinks from a WVU fan named Butch who was a hoot but a great fan who made a big deal about the football game and us coming from Youngstown.  He treated us like family and I would say we appreciated his and his friends hospitality.  Now if the students would have only behaved it would have been 100% pleasant.  Don't know if I will return to that atmosphere in the stands.

YSU Penguin Athletics / Re: Penny Penguin

Please consider the removal of Penny a priority.  She is an embarrassment to some alumnus and fans.  I was glad to see that she did not appear in many of the basketball games.  Could it be her roundness, her hat, or even her babushka. If there is a desire from fans to remove her, they have my vote.  By the way most of us in the basketball section "boo" her whenever she appears.

I just have to laugh at your remark ppower. Do we have to hash this a million times.  Need to  have home games for revenue and we would be glad to play meaningful games against teams if we could.......... but not if there is not a guarantee game back to us.  We have to have 7 home games.  Do you get it.

I care much Chief.  Your negative response is counter YSU.  You should support Akron........they have a winning basketball program and love fans who reside in the woodwork.

I believe P Nation and J Bags should be banned.  Very tired of hearing the same same. I have an idea how about the two of you not attend any more games at YSU.  As matter of fact I never see either of you two at any other non-revenue sporting events.

YSU Penguin Athletics / Re: Can We Finally Forget About the MAC?
« on: April 03, 2016, 06:09:01 PM »
Still searching for an answer. Then as Wick 250 states athletic state tax money is being channeled into the general fund for funds to cover such non-scholarship expenses as travel, equipment, insurance, facilities maintenance.  Why can we not ask and expand our request to receive more state tax money like the other state schools apparently do to increase our YSU's athletic budget for salaries and scholarships  (it is our state tax money is it not).

Wick 250 or anyone else on the topic of Athletic budgets. I am wondering why do we not accept tax money for our Athletic budget.  It would help would it not.  I know it is so called "noble" to not accept tax money but should not the tax money allow us to field better competitive teams.....why not??????????????

Legitimate responses are?

I am strongly in favor of banning users.  I am viewing this board for YSU information not negative input.  Let those users who spout off negativism on YSU sport, administration, coaches, players build their own board and stay on their own board. I have a list of those users I would ban quickly if given the opportunity.  I am willing to contribute to the redesign also. "Viva la liberitad"

Crazy talking Double ET from you. Woman's basketball and men's basketball are two different things.  I thought you knew more about basketball than to make a statement like that.  Recruiting is still the priority and could Coach Barnes win that war against major and MAC teams?
