YSU competes against the MAC for area players. FBS vs. FCS.  Toledo competes against the MAC for players ( E. Mich. BG, C. Mich, etc )AND the LOWER B1G. That , in fact, brings in better players.  Toledo has a bigger budget than YSU. It does NOT have to be as big as low level, losing B1Gs . It competes with MAC schools with similar budgets, all bigger than YSU.  But Toledo has a winning tradition.

This is laughable -- Kent is a MAJOR losing program and still gets better players than YSU. Look at the area talent that picks Kent over YSU. Akron sucks and  yet area stars pick them over YSU.

The point is if Heacock does end up the HC there, even as much as he hates recruiting and didn't do well at it here, he should do better there  -- major program, winning tradition , FBS vs FCS, and bigger budget than YSU but same as the MAC, etc.

However, he IS capable of screwing it up.  8)

Yes, its funny how the cheerleaders here want to bend the truth. The good old boy crowd is alive and well.  Heacock has one thing going for him at Toledo -- as much as he dislikes recruiting , its easier to recruit at Toledo than YSU. Higher  quality athletes there than here. Bigger budget.

Still, its possible to screw that up !  ;D

Gee, I guess I wasn't "defending" YSU when I picked them to go   7 -4 pre-season with a shot at the playoffs ?  I guess I don't defend YSU when I pick them to win. Ju st mention that there are problems, point them out, predict a losing season and suddenly you are a bad guy.  :(

Way ahead of you. Paladin(s) were champions of the King's court ( knights). I got the idea from Charlemagne's court. Richard Boone helped the crusade  with his character who was a gun for hiree, usually to the underdogs. However, being a former champ, it seemed to fit  me.

And yes, after my predictions as I see them, if it jerks a few chains around here, the more the merrier,  8)

Even better when proven right and the meltdown here begins !!  ;D ;D ;D

Remember Heacock ?  After some bad recruiting classes I said the losing would start. AND IT DID. Meanwhile, the folks here had no clue. Just like now.

On with the comedy

YSU Penguin Athletics / Re: YSU Football ends at 5-6. What now?
« on: November 24, 2015, 01:56:34 PM »
I predicted a 7-4 pre-season but changed that in mid-season to 5-6. Was on the money. I changed because I realized thast coaching had been overblown and hyped. Most expected an 8-3 record because of Bo. I dropped down one game because of his annual blowing of at least one game annually at   Nebraska.  Because Bo's first class was a stinker as I view it, the next class has to be gold or the losing seasons here will start to pile up, just as they did under Heacock. QB and special teams is a problem. Bo needs to SHUT his mouth and try not to choke in a game  (which he did often at Nebraska ). However, next years schedule looks like a repeat -- 2 weenies, WVU and then the MVFC with UNI on the schedule. Until Bo actually coaches better ( and recruits better), even with a lot of talent coming back, I don't see great things for YSU.

In fact, it can get worse.

My sources in Columbus say this is a done deal and was after Urban made him a back-up again. Even at NFL minimum, he gets rich. He will get drafted and will get more than minimum.

As for  YSU, there is a QB problem here and it won't be fixed easy.

Better ,  PP ?  I'd hold off on that prediction. Lots of things to consider and most are NOT good.

I'll bite -- Wolford had the team headed in the right direction by increasing his wins each year.  Everyone here and I mean everyone thought YSU was going to the playoffs WITH Wolford's returning material AND BO.  ;D  ;D  ;D

Hilarious. You are seeing what Nebraska got tired of. But don't let me stop there . The entire sports dept begins and ends with RON STROLLO. I believe Wolford made the playoffs this year with his kids and staff.  But the decider AD makes another blunder after blunder after blunder after blunder after blunder, again and again and again, etc, etc etc ........................................................

And now back to the comedy.

Nothing new here. I told you LAST year that Wells would NEVER start for four years. Ability level just isn't there. Yet the "experts" here was saying that since he started as a Frosh, he was a lock.

Ohio St. must know something   that YSU doesn't -- they ALWAYS try to field a run/pass QB and thats also what they recruit.

Reps from the NCAA will be picking the teams . Not ESPN.  The Bo show is a non-starter this year. And maybe for years to come. Theres a new reason  for Penguin hate in case you haven't noticed.

Thank you, bean counter.

You serious ?  ;D ;D ;D

YSU is NOT going to the playoffs.    NDS, ILS and SDS are in.  UNI ? Maybe . Bo sealed their fate with last week-ends embarrassing episode.

Its delusional around here now !

Actually just two H.S.s.    Old Pickerington which is now called Pick Central  and Pickerington North which hits the  Reynoldsburg  school district in Franklin Co.  Its more like 35 years ago it was all farmland. An old  coaching buddy of mine started the tough Pickerington program ( Jack Johnson). North is only about 10 years old now.

However , I'm told that heroin is on the teams. I don't know the current coaches but coaches in the  area sure know what is going on down there.

Never fails. Spend your $$$$$$$$$$$ for decades on Penguin Club seats but don't have an opinion. Not allowed. Stop coming to games and buying tickets and still keep your opinion to yourself.

Look in the mirror.  The problems are not going away.

Thank your bean counter.
