Anyone know anything about who we are recruiting?

Have been wondering this myself...haven't heard anything

I'm glad it appears to be a seamless transition and Coach Faulkner will carry on with Coach Calhoun had established.  It's good to hear that apparently everyone else is staying...wish we could have retained Lovelace.

I did think the press conference though was pretty lackluster...just 10 mins including questions.  Can't believe there weren't more questions from the media.  And nothing from Strollo.

Per a Tweet by Dana Balash, Coach Faulker's contract is 5 years at $275,000 base salary a year.

This appears on YouTube posted prior to his Utah State U. Job.

Has anyone seen it?

The link is shown below:

Ironically just saw this on YSU Basketball Facebook:

Head Coach Ethan Faulkner will be introduced at a press conference tomorrow that we’ll stream on our Instagram at 3:30 PM. It will also be on the YSU Sports YouTube channel. #goguins🐧

I was under the impression of last Wednesday as well. Now everything has been pretty quiet on that front.

Pretty sure it was to be last Wednesday.

Robb Schmidt did a quick 2 part interview on Twitter.

Other than a couple articles I've seen, it's been pretty quiet

Has there been a press conference yet with Coach Faulkner? I had thought I read where there was supposed to be one last Wednesday, but I haven't seen it posted anywhere and there's been nothing from any local media.

Interesting to note that Great Osobor of Utah State, who was the Mountain West player of the year, has entered the portal.

@21WFMJSports
  Per public records request, Jerrod Calhoun gets a 5 year contract worth a base salary of $625,000 plus an additional $300,000 in media rights compensation at Utah State.
He’ll also get annual increase of $25,000, every April 1.
He can also earn $350,000 in bonuses

.
@21WFMJSports
  Calhoun has an assistants salary pool of $750,000 & $150,000 for men’s basketball operations & administrative positions.

Congrats Coach Calhoun - what a tremendous contract - almost double what he was making at YSU.

His base contract at YSU was $300,000.  He's in essence making $925,000 which is more than triple. Pretty unreal.

If you ask me this is a lot like the Phillips hire.  On the job training with limited resources for assistant coaches.  Also, I would think Faulkner has to be one of the youngest coaches in D1.  Hopefully his enthusiasm and hunger make up for his inexperience.

He definitely has enthusiasm!

From a February 20 article: "Tevon Saddler, the youngest coach in Division I men’s basketball, has Nicholls State in its accustomed position near the top of the Southland Conference heading into his 29th birthday on Wednesday."

Faulkner is 33

The pressure with definitely be on Coach Calhoun with Utah State making 5 of the last 6 NCAA tournaments.  Will DJ Burns follow him there?

Knew this day would come eventually, but can't help but be disappointed.  Coach brought a winning culture to the program and made YSU basketball exciting, but struggled postseason failing to get to the promise land; in fact, just 1 appearance in the Horizon League semis not even eclipsing what Slocum did.

Obviously this was why no post-season tourneys for YSU and I'm sure why Burns and Lovelace hit the portal.

The pressure will also be on the new coach to keep the winning going and try not lose the excitement and crowds of recent years.

I like having a little coin in my pocket as much as the next guy but this obsession with money the players, coaches and just people in general have, is out of control.

Agree! I'll never deny someone that it's their right to make money, but as you said this obsession to bounce around with zero loyalty and uprooting families and lives.  It's hard to blame the players when the coaches are just as bad.  Speaking of such it's so refreshing to see what Greg Kampe has done at Oakland.
