YSU Penguin Athletics / Re: The next YSU Head Football Coach
« on: January 27, 2020, 07:42:53 PM »
I want an offensive coach that can recruit Ohio and Florida.  I know I will get my head beat in but I want Shane Montgomery, or what about Brian Wright.  He just took a D2 gig.

Always a coach Shane fan here. I am concerned about Wright being capable, but I always liked him. He needs some Head-coaching experience for me to feel more comfortable.
Shane did more for the program then most people realize plus he was a very good recruiter. When he left along with Bricillo this program did a 360 degree turn for the worse. The Culture and discipline was simply know more..Shane should be strongly considered if he wants to return

Last DC there made 2.5 million per year..Bo's contract would be equal or greater to that

Bison over Illinois St. 9-3..Quarterback play for the Redbirds was a major problem all year. I like James Madison to win the championship. Shane Montgomery is doing a good job with the Dukes offense

As Bo would say it's just a comedy of errors. This roster is made up of mostly D-2 talent and lower level FCS recruits and a few D-1 transfers that are not working out like they hoped. If he thinks he can win with that in the Missouri next year he might want to think again. Remember this is a coach who told Joey Burrow(LSU) He wasn't good enough to play at Nebraska and was better suited for the MAC level. The hand writing was on the wall when the class of 2015 offered by Wolford the previous year decided to go elsewhere. With the state this program is in, what quality recruits in their right mind would want to come here? Bo should do the right thing and part ways with YSU

It's crazy to think the redbirds have only scored 15 TDs in conference play to our 22 Tds . On the flip side they have allowed just 15 Tds to our 34. If Mark Waid does get the start this week it could be a tall task for him. It will be interesting to see how much RPO the staff uses with him going forward and how his body can hold up to it

The university should offer free tickets(for walk-ups) and free beer for those in attendance

Just amazed how Indiana St. could finish 1-11 on 3rd down, put up 24 points on our D and miss 3 field goals in the process. They lined up in wildcat..we knew they were going to run and simply couldn't stop them

The Sycamores only have 8 touchdowns in 6 conference games so our defense better get the job done. Guess they lost their starting Qb earlier in the year. Defensively they are sound, hopefully we can establish the run game today

Relying on chief to keep us updated!! I did hear that we got a verbal from a 3 star DE  from the Akron area. Of course we all know what happened last year with our 3 star backing out. Also got a verbal from a lineman that had know offers and a DE/LB that had an offer from Findlay

WE LINED UP WRONG IN BASIC CALLS? Coach time to start recruiting football IQ and disciplined players. If you have to give up some talent and athleticism so be it. Out of the 7 cardinal mooney players on the active roster does anyone know how many are under scholarship? Seems like a high number for a Division 4 program that has been mediocre at best for several years. Most schools that size are lucky to send 1 student athlete to a Division 1 football program every 5 years

Say what you want about Wolford.  Take away his first year he was over 500 in a conference play against a much stronger Missouri conference then what exists today and at least fielded competitive teams.  Bottom line is we are 8-14 in conference since 2016, and likely will drop to  8-16 at seasons end. I'm very concerned with what we have returning next season and a single win  in conference could prove difficult. Maybe Wolford wasn't head coaching material for the YSU vision,  but it certainly didn't take long for the Forty- Niners and South Carolina  to acquire his services. It would be very interesting to see how many teams knocked on Bo's door after the 2018 seasons end

Looking ahead to the 2020 season the non conference schedule will be much more difficult. We could very easily be 1-3 heading into conference play only to open up against N.D.S.U and S.D.S.U. on the road. The rest of the M.V.F.V. is very young and talented and we are know where close to being competitive with these teams. The excuse that we are bad because we pay our coaches slightly less then some of the  other F.C.S. programs do is just laughable. Bo has had every opportunity to assemble his staff and recruit his own players. It's obvious this team has regressed since losing the remaining Wolford recruits and coaching staff. When players do not respect a coaching staff and simply quit it's a major problem. Probably will not happen, but Bo should do the right thing and resign following the conclusion of this season
