YSU Penguin Athletics / YSU vs Illinois St
« on: November 18, 2019, 10:00:02 AM »
It's crazy to think the redbirds have only scored 15 TDs in conference play to our 22 Tds . On the flip side they have allowed just 15 Tds to our 34. If Mark Waid does get the start this week it could be a tall task for him. It will be interesting to see how much RPO the staff uses with him going forward and how his body can hold up to it

YSU Penguin Athletics / U.N.I. Game week

https://wcfcourier.com/sports/college/uni/football/uni-football-panthers-eye-next-step-toward-playoffs/article_f51f67f2-87ad-5d2c-906d-3fe7bfa5e8f1.html First off I want to wish all the Seniors good luck in their finally home game and for all your hard work and dedication over the years. Even though this isn't the season you or the fans would have hoped for you can all lift your head up high. 2016 was a run that will never be forgotten anytime soon. U.N.I. looks like a very sound and fundamental team in all three phases of the game. What stands out to me is their victory over South Dakota State..shutting out Indiana St. When RB Keys was healthy and their victory over Illinois St. When both teams needed a win. Defensively they are right up there with N.D.S. The Bison were able to rush for 344 yards against them so the first thing we need to do is break out the tape and see how that happened.  The million dollar question is will we play like we did in Fargo or go back to our old ways? Weather on Saturday will be in our favor especially with a dome team coming to town..Go Guins!!

YSU Penguin Athletics / South Dakota Week

https://youtu.be/fkgE7FKBx1M Very interesting press conference by Bo to start the week. I think more then anything the players are not on the same page with the offensive and defensive coordinators. Bo sounds like the players are not doing what is coached , yet these problems only seem to happen in game conditions and not during practice. Originally I thought Kennedy came into punt because of the stronger wind conditions. Turns out Bo was not happy because of a shank by Schuler. Yet Bo never pulls Kennedy when he shanks field goals..Lol..As far as the game goes this is a very important game for S.D..They want desperately to pick up their 3rd conference win before hosting the Bison next week. They are the #1 ranked offense in conference play, but the last ranked defense. They lost their season opener to a pretty decent Kansas St. team by a narrow margin. They seem to be up and down from week to week. The  guins really need to take advantage of these next 2 home games especially With Indiana St. Coming into town next week.  This is a golden opportunity to make a bad feeling and situation a little better, because after that we all know how brutal the last 3 games will be

YSU Penguin Athletics / Southern Illinois week

https://siusalukis.com/news/2018/10/2/saluki-football-at-youngstown-state-notes-links.aspx?path=football Week five is upon us and I think this is a game we could win. On the season the Salukis are 1-3 with two close losses coming to SEMO and South Dakota. They appear to have a very good offense and have generated a little more than 1,700 yards the last three contests. Their defense struggles at times and the majority of points given up have been in the second half. Here's hoping OC Brian Crist can run clock in this game and can keep the ball out of their playmakers hands..that's what they will be looking to do against us

YSU Penguin Athletics / Robert Morris
« on: September 04, 2017, 09:02:07 AM »
Home opener week is officially here. Robert Morris edged Dayton by a field goal on Saturday 13-10. We need to role in this game and cant have a repeat of 2015 after the Pitt game. Does the Northeast conference offer more scholarships for football then years past? Watched some of their game against the flyers and they both appear to be better program's then previous years

http://valley-football.org/news/2017/9/3/football-saturday-sept-2-mvfc-recaps.aspx Will be posting scores on a weekly basis. As a whole the valley was 5-4 and 0-3 against F.B.S. opponents this week. Teams rolled on the cupcakes as expected and SDSU handled Duquesne earlier in the week and Indiana St. gave their game away to Eastern Illinois. JMU did knock off East Carolina on Saturday by a wide margin

https://athlonsports.com/college-football/athlon-sports-preseason-fcs-top-25-2017 Just feel this is a real smack in the face after finishing runners up from a year ago with a good amount of talent returning. Good bulletin board material for the locker room☺

Through it all we still have a chance of a three way tie for the conference title with a win and a SDSU and NDSU loss. I think we have much to be proud of in Bo's second season at the helm..31-10 Guins

YSU Penguin Athletics / Quarterback Situation
« on: October 17, 2016, 02:38:56 PM »
For the year we are 62 for 118 with 7 td's and 8 int's. In conference play we are 26 for 56 with 1 td and 6 int's. The good thing is we are sitting at 5-1. It is my understanding that Hunters shoulder is just fine, but he is on his way out and can't play..We need to move forward with what we have and forget about the possibility of him playing this year. Having only 2 quarterback's on a roster is a offensive coordinator's worst nightmare and a defensive coordinators dream come true. Keep in mind we still have half the season to go plus the playoffs if we can make it. Monty will have to be very selective with what he does with the quarterback play from here on out. The Defense will have the upper hand in how they defend us..at some point we need to start being more productive in the passing game

I thought this would be a good topic to discuss as the conference opener is fast approaching. Scores and analysis would be greatly appreciated so we can get a better understanding of our opponents strength's and weaknesses and how we match up against them
