Congrats to freshman Zach Gehm.  He just took first place in the discus to represent Team USA in Costa Rica for the Pan Am games.  This Seneca Valley grad is going places!  Way to go Zach!

Next home game my family and I can attend... we will be there!

I also used to go to all of the home games but, I attended ZERO this year.  I 100% agree.  The team is boring to watch.  I may never return unless big changes are made.

I bet those verbal commits for next year are really excited to join such a vibrant program.  Hahaha!  Bo and the staff lost me last year.  I haven't been to a game in two years and have ZERO plans to come back anytime soon.  I will however attend some basketball games this year:) Winning and exciting play brings fans.  Why would anybody want to sit in the cold and watch such an awful team?

Guys back out of the verbals all the time.  I recognized the points made in the article... I still don't think it is enough reason for him to come here.  Who will be the coach? DC? DB coach?  All is in question.  Why would someone want to play for a High School sized crowd with less enthusiasm.  Norwin draws as many spectators as YSU at this point.  Whoever recruited him will very likely be working elsewhere next year so...

Why would this kid come to YSU?  Verbal commitments mean absolutely nothing.  I suspect that he never signs his LOI to play here.  Other than seeing the field early and coming to school with a HS buddy, what is the benefit?  The staff will be different next year... the team will probably still be bad... who is going to "coach him up"?... ZERO Gameday environment... etc.  If he actually signs a LOI, I will be impressed.   I am skeptical to say the least.

Some of the best D2 teams in the country or in Western PA.  Cal U, IUP, and SRU are all better options than Butler IMO.  IUP has some real talent and as many D1 transfers as most FCS schools.  IUP would give us a better game than Butler or Duquesne.

YSU Penguin Athletics / Re: Nice article about Damoun Patterson
« on: August 10, 2018, 08:28:59 AM »
The Pittsburgh Tribune Review writer Kevin Gorman wrote 5 keys from the first Steelers preseason game.  One of his 5 key takeaways from the game was how great Damoun played.  There is a major logjam at receiver for the Steelers but, Damoun has separated himself from the other longshots so far:) Antonio Brown, JuJu Smith Schuster, James Washington, and Justin Hunter are locks to make the team.  Darius Heyward Bay and Eli Rogers (PUP list) are probably locks as well.  If Damoun keeps doing well, I suspect that he will be a final day cut and then either get picked up by another team or end up on the Steelers pratice squad.  Of course, you never know what could happen with injuries (Antonio Brown has not yet practiced and Eli Rogers will not be ready until mid season).  Anyway you slice it, he's doing great and giving himself a legitimate chance:)

I watched this kid play a few times this year.  He is an athlete for sure and a leader.  His HS coach resigned a week before camp opened and he helped rally his team around a new last minute coach and to a state championship season.  I am surprised that he hadn't yet signed and TBH, I am surprised that he didn't really have any big offers.  Long term, this could be a great player for us.  Nice get!

Yep, via DiNucci's Twitter account.  I called that one a week ago.  I wonder where MacVittie will land?  By the way IMHO, the Hunter Wells was better than Max Browne in the season opwner game is a tough argument.  In that ONE game, absolutely yes.  However,  let us not forget that Hunter had been with the same offense for three years and on the same team for four years.  Max was a graduate transfer on a new team with an entire new offense learning a new system.  Pitt had a new OC this year.  MacVittie might not be good at all, who knows but, I hope there has at least been communication.  Merry Christmas Penguin Fans!

3 or 4 levels below Hunter Wells... hahaha... that's funny.  Hunter is pretty good for sure but, c'mon.  Ever see Ben DeNucci play?  I bet not!  Besides, he being rumored to be transferring to James Madison.  Clearly they have no idea what they are doing.  Hahaha.  Please try to land one of these two guys!  Especially DeNucci!

YSU Penguin Athletics / Pitt QB Transfer
« on: November 27, 2017, 08:36:37 AM »
The Pittsburgh Post Gazette and online sources are hinting that Redshirt Freshman QB Thomas MacVittie might be considering a transfer.  He was a highly decorated recruit out of Cincinnati Moeller HS and was offered by LSU.  I suspect that he would not want to transfer to FBS and sit out another year.  He is 6'5" and a pro style QB... I know Bo likes running QB's but, our best success has been with Hunter.  It would be nice to find a way to see if he would have an interest.
