YSU Penguin Athletics / Re: South Dakota - In Game

There is nothing about this offense that is good.  Wells? Regressed.  Line play?  Atrocious.  Play calling? Yeah, OK.  Bad, bad, bad.

This offensive line is not very good at this point.  Rather unimpressed 4 games into the season.

I guess I just really disliked Coach Wolford, even more than I thought.  I stopped listening after he made the whole "I understand the new President wants his guy" explanation.  To me, it was just another excuse to not admit that he didn't get the job done.  I didn't like it from day 1, the whole blame game and it never being his fault as the head coach.  Or how he'll make sure that he gets everything he wants next time.  Didn't like it then, don't like it now.

In that article, Strollo admits we dont play Kent or Akron in football because he is "stubborn" (his own words) regarding the stipulation that if we play them it is a home and home game and not a one off game.

I noticed that as well.  My 2 cents worth.....play them in their building.  Who cares?  Make them pay what they are paying other schools and it is like a home game financially.  Can't cost all that much to travel to either place, right?

Is Avery Moss playing dont see him in the stats?

He was not listed in the Player Participation section of the game stats.

I don't think he was dressed.  I could have sworn I saw a #9 in sweats from where I was sitting.

YSU Penguin Athletics / Re: The Defense Also Let Us Down...

For clarification, our defense only recorded two sacks. Derek rivers and terrell williams each had one sack. Also, we were +3 in the turnover margin.

Yeah thats not true because Rivers had at least 3 of his own.  you should use facts

Dude, please....you're very new to the forum.  Before you continue to call people out....do YOUR homework.  YO Show was right.  Please read below, these are the FACTS based on the YSU website.   Rivers also had 2 tackles for loss, which ARE NOT sacks.  Did you say you played???  SMH!!!!

Boy, if the offense would have done something....anything in the 1st half, this could have been VERY interesting.  But what should one expect from a "leftover."  Very frustrating.

Watched on ESPN3, how bad off is Ruiz?

I know this could just be "coach talk," but here is what the Vindicator is saying:

"Penguins coach Bo Pelini called reports that running backs coach Ron Brown is leaving YSU to take the wide receivers job at Liberty “way premature.”  "Not that it’s out of the question, but he hasn’t taken a job at Liberty,” Pelini said. "

YSU Penguin Athletics / Home and Home with Nebraska? April Fools??
« on: April 01, 2015, 01:10:54 PM »
The Nebraska Cornhuskers announced today that they have come to an agreement with Youngstown State for a home-and-home series that will begin in 2017. The Huskers will host the Penguins in 2017 before playing at Youngstown State in 2020. The 2017 meeting will mark the first match-up between the two schools. The 2020 meeting will be the first time Nebraska has played a road game against an FCS school.

"We had an immediate opening that needed filled in 2017, and this achieves that for us," Nebraska head coach Mike Riley said. "We'll go anywhere and play anyone. Youngstown State is one of the premiere FCS teams in the country, and as McNeese State proved last year, there are no guarantees once you get two teams on the field. This will be a competitive series, and that's what we want--to compete."

The 2017 game fills out Nebraska's non-conference schedule, which already includes Oregon and Northern Illinois.

"This is something that we never had the chance to do at Oregon State," Riley said. "With our facilities and lack of television exposure, nobody would come to Corvallis. This is an opportunity we gladly embrace."

Nebraska fans will undoubtedly be waiting for a chance to witness Penguins head coach Bo Pelini on the opposing sideline after Pelini's tumultuous seven-year tenure in Lincoln.

"I'm not going to comment any further than to say that this is a good chance for both schools," Pelini said. "I'm happy we could make this happen. But at the end of the day, the opponent doesn't matter. We can't point to a specific opponent. We have to point the thumb and figure out ways to make ourselves better and to make Youngstown State a better program."

1AA....."Slocum: He is what he is. I like him & am happy he is here. I wish we had more success, but MBB is at the appropriate concern level right now. It has to fall below facilities, women's sports and football. If we were able to pull in the nation's basketball best players, I would still be happy to have Slocum at the helm. In the mean time he has good fundamental coaching skills, affording us the ability to recruit untapped talent. He is also prepping a good replacement for when he does retire. Even if we hired outside, I see Slocum as being an integral part of the transition. After all ...he is a "good ole boy"."

Please tell me that is nothing but sarcasm.  Look, I pay absolutely no attention to MBB because well, it SUCKS, PERIOD.

If it HAS to fall below facilities and women's sports, then why have it??
How does this program even think about pulling good players in, when the program is absolutely terrible?
Good fundamental coaching skills?  Untapped talent?  He loses more players than he gets.  HE loses more games than he wins.

Sarcasm right?  Please say yes.  Because until today, I really respected your views on a lot of things.  But, if that is how you truly feel, I may have to start reading your comments with the same view as I read Paladin.

SHEESH, I feel like I was just kicked in the gut.  WOW!!

Lets_Talk, do you know the most wonderful thing about this country?  It's that you have a choice in pretty much EVERYTHING you do (as do those who want to b**** about the guy).  Here they are:  Listen to him OR don't listen to him.  Same thing with donating your money.  2 choices: 1. Donate, 2. Don't donate.  It's your choice.

I personally don't give a sh** whether you, he or anyone else has an axe to grind over someone's lifestyle choice, monetary choice, religious choice or any other choice that exists.  If you don't like it or don't agree with it, then don't be a part of it.  It really is THAT simple!!

The one nice thing about the game is that ISU exposed every weakness of NDSU & there are several.

Bored today waiting to watch the east west shrine game and cruising the boards....but

Wow, they really exposed us didn't they pretty sad they still lost, so guess exposing isn't enough to beat us right?  With us being so untalented etc like everyoeveryone said isu with their fbs qb should have beat us easily with 2 minutes left right?

Don't give the fans credit, but the student athletes on this team work their as### off to get to this point every year, it's not a fluke like lots of people want to think, so hate us but the at least give the kids some respect

Fyi, Dudzik our SS started and played in all 61 games of his career, ends with a 58-3 record overall, 20-0 in playoffs and 4 rings. His only 3 losses were to MVFC teams, uni, Indiana St and ysu.  If you can't respect that then your not a sports fan

TJ...I believe you would find that ALL YSU fans have great respect for the NDSU program as a whole.  The fact that someone here talks about the exposing of weaknesses is all our fan base and others has to look forward to.  Nothing in 1AAs post discredits NDSUs athletes.

Unfortunately, your fan base allows us to really dislike everything about your football program.  Relax dude, I know you're bored, but don't read so deeply into the comment.

It's actually Oklahoma State.

"Oklahoma State: Mike Gundy has announced the hiring of Dan Hammerschmidt and Eric Wolford. Hammerschmidt, who coached the running backs at Houston last season, will fill a defensive assistant position and Wolford, the former Youngstown State head coach, will be an offensive coach. Receivers coach Jason Ray will not return. As we understand it, Hammerschmidt will coach the corners and Wolford and Bob Connelly will work together on the offensive line. The nine are now full for Oklahoma State."
