YSU Penguin Athletics / Re: Duquesne VS. YSU
« on: September 02, 2016, 08:11:03 AM »
Great night for football.  Good to see students out supporting their school.  How about that whistle! Defense showed it can get it done.  Special teams it's all about the Kennedy. He can kick it.  Team played with some emotion which I hadn't seen in awhile. Davis was ok.  He is the typical run first QB but against the Dukes anybody would of looked good.  He has improved but don't see him looking off receivers no different than Wells, but he can run.  He has improved.  But again the competition skews it.  He won't last long if we run him to death.  I agree with Penguinpower on that.  Rivers is a beast.  Liked the 3rd string RB.

Jayson Gobble, a 2016 Stow High School graduate, has committed to play football at Youngstown State University.
Gobble received a partial scholarship from YSU and said he is excited to line up as a running back for Penguins coach Bo Pelini.
“This is a great opportunity, and hopefully I will be able to make something of it,” Gobble said. “Right now, it is a learning process for me because I came in so late. It was pretty crazy. I was about to go to Akron and maybe walk on there, but then the running back coach [Nic McKissic-Luke] at Youngstown State gave me a call and said he wanted me to come down for a visit and I ended up committing from there.”
Gobble, 18, said he plans to major in engineering after posting a 3.6 grade-point average at Stow.

The judge isn't the problem here.  The did a dumb thing and honestly I think they should have both been kicked off the team for good.  There is a difference between being stupid with a weapon vs being responsible with one.  But let's be honest here.  They got s slap on the wrist and the star lb got off cause the other kid took the rap for shooting it.  Look who the Lawyer was for the defendants isn't that name Sound familiar LoL!  Go YSU!

Good to see that our QB coach on the board has it figured out.  It's just one kids fault that we didn't succeed last year.  Same kid was voted Captain by his peers but the board QB coach knows more than the team and his coaches.  Hell even the last HC wasn't that smart either he started the same guy.  I trust the coaches on this one and the players versus A anonymous poster hiding behind a screen name questioning a kids heart.  Why don't you sit next to his family in the stands and tell them that their kid lacks toughness.  Doubt that will happen.  This is the last I will debate this unless it's about performance.  Go Penguins and whoever wins QB1!

I tried to stay out of the QB debate.  A couple of thoughts, I have to believe that Coach P will make sure that the guy that can give us the best chance to win will be QB1. Penguin power hit the nail on the head.  Bring back a power offense and pound it and use a play action based passing game and if needed a spread or west coast based package .  I don't think we have been blessed with much at WR for many years  Wells got hurt when Adams Graduated.  He was our best weapon in the red zone his Senior year.  . Davis if he is named starter won't get through the year without getting banged up or injured.  Our league is too physical and we need 2 good QBs .  I put a lot of the blame on Monty we have had some poor game plans and gave become too predictable especially with a lead going into the second half.  Last year with all the injuries and poor WR play Davis wouldn't have got us to the playoffs either.  It's fairly obvious with the influx of new WRs that the coaching staff realized that was a big issue.  They could have run off most of the QB's too but they just brought the transfer in.  My gut tells me they will give Davis the nod at first but when we hit games that matter we will have 9 guys or more in the box and dare us to throw.  They have enough film on him to know his skill set .  This kind of reminds me of the Colby Street era and whe know how that ended up.  Go YSU!

Thought we were done with them. I didn't realize our first game was one. I guess you can see I am not a fan of them.  Lol! Trying to decide whether to take a half day or a whole day off.

Wow!  What a gift.  The stadium needs to be upgraded and this will help.  We will be adding more loges too.  Tressel has really helped to get local business involved with YSU athletics as well as the academic side.  We were light years behind on the sports media media/production side at the stadium.  I think we are slowly moving to get our facility BCS ready!  Lol had to say it!

« on: May 01, 2016, 05:26:45 PM »
Why all the hate for the MAC? Lol!  They are DIV 1. Big time football BCS that is the perception from the average fan not the 10 of us on here.  It is what is.  If the Bison haven't done so well our FCS league would be ranked much lower.  Talking about what league is stronger means sh** when we have not won it in what a decade.

They would have to be FCS in football to be D1 in Basketball.
