YSU Penguin Athletics / March Madness should be our focus not football.

After watching some of March Madness and how our team brought out the crowds and sparked interest. I feel the university will get more bang for the buck by investing into Basketball
1. First of all we are in a conference with some natural rivals
Cleveland St and Wright.
2. If we can get to the dance.
We are on every bracket and on a national Stage
The economics of it make sense. Our level of football nobody gives a crap. Plus we are in a conference that we have no reason to be in other than the same BS it’s the SEC of football.
Ask Furman, ask Fairleigh Dickerson Chicago St and past schools like Butler if a conference mattered etc.
You get way more media and exposure than an FCS championship. I asked people down here Do you know who won’t be FCS football championship this year? They went what’s that?
I love our football but I don’t see us being a consistent winner or a major player in our conference we will always be just one of the other Schools plus the Dakotas. Look at the SEC it’s Bama, Georgia, and sometimes LSU.
Again I would probably change my mind if we went to another conference or moved up.

Looks like more money from a tv contract will possibly be funneled to fix the regional seeding mess I think that is what the jist of Article states.

YSU Penguin Athletics / New FBS Conference forming. But Hey! We play in the SEC of FCS!

As teams move up to FBS. We will find it harder to recruit D1 level athletes. The pool is shrinking and YSU misses the boat. We go D1 we would get almost 2 million to play an Ohio state not 850k. The conference will be football only.

Dan Rivers post local radio personality I’m sharing it
I wrote the following last night. The underwhelming response to my suggestion makes me wonder if YSU football is even relevant to the Youngstown Metro,
"Wearing the badge of courage that YSU belong to the SEC of the FCS is getting old. Jeff Sagarin has been serving bettors for 30 years and his rankings appear in the USA Today weekly.
Sagarin does not fully disclose how he arrives at his ranking of 261 Division 1 teams, a list YSU finished number 138. Sagarin does disclose that strength of schedule plays a large part in his rankings. I put stock in his findings because gamblers are the best barometer of wins and losses, and the gamblers love his sheet.
Back to number 138 for YSU in the Sagarin rankings. The following teams have made the FCS playoffs this year and finished below YSU in Sagarin. The teams are Delaware, Samford, Southeast Missouri State, Elon, Gardener Webb, New Hampshire, Fordham, St Francis, North Carolina Central, Eastern Kentucky, and Davidson which comes in number 238 a full 100 teams below YSU."
My original post asked the question, is it time to look for a new league in the East and stop playing in the Dakotas.
