Interesting conference stats. Mitch Davidson leads the league in yards/play due to a very impressive outing and ranks high in several other categories.

Speaking of stats, I love how YSU is losing badly to “hookers and cocaine.”

Ye of little faith.  I just saw DP on TV last night and he said that the team is getting better every day.

Oh thank goodness! The a$$istant principal turned principal sees the program that hasn't won a road game in the last four years is on the mend. Phew!  :D

Honestly what would expect a head coach to say?

Can the assistant principal turned principal forfeit this game too and blame the plandemic?

The Bison are coming to town on Saturday (kickoff 12 noon), and are favored by 17.5 (low IMHO) with an O/U of 47.5 (also low IMHO).

https://madduxsports.com/college-football-lines.php

A very nice write-up that outlines how much the Bison program has at stake in this game:

https://gobison.com/news/2021/11/8/no-5-bison-at-youngstown-state-saturday-in-valley-football-game-of-the-week.aspx

The Bison have the top rushing D and total D. YSU’s defense ranks last. Coming off the Bison’s only loss this season at SDSU one week ago, I don’t see how NDSU doesn’t come out blazing and this doesn’t get ugly. My suspicion is we’re looking at a similar outcome as the NDSU-ISUb game two weeks ago (44-2) except with a few YSU FGs (YSU lost to ISUb 17-28 earlier this season).

Anyone ever see the Mike Tyson vs Marvis Frazier “fight”?

Wouldn’t a “true Penguin fan” try to help the University and team by encouraging participation and attendance?  Or are the stands on game day too crowded?

Any sensible person sees a plethora of reasons to be frustrated and pessimistic about the program. The saboteur AD surely will continue his malpractice for at least 10 more years. If the University doesn’t care, why should anyone else?

The University dismissed me as a decades-long donor and fan…loudly and clearly…..when they recruited the rapist.

F em and the Monus’s car they rode in on.

I’ve closely followed YSU FB since I was a kid. I was always the loudest one around me in the stadium (Fitch, away stadiums, and the Castle). The FB program caught a terminal illness named Ron Strollo. The coup de grace was the hiring of a troubled and ethically challenged man named Bo Pelini. During Bo’s tenure, the program went to the FB rainbow bridge.

I stopped any investment of time in the program when they actually recruited a convicted gang rapist.

Now I follow without any passion or emotion. If they win...whatever...if they lose...complete indifference.

F’in Hawks favored by 11.5 points.  Hawks cover it IMHO.

I find the name “Hawks” insensitive. Change it to protect my feelz.

did UND change their name from something?

Don’t you find it offensive that YSU is misappropriating the culture of birds dressed in tuxedos?

The Wolf.

In his very first game as YSU HC, we were beating Penn St at the end of the first quarter. In his second season he gave eventual national champs NDSU their only loss. The next year (2012) he just doesn't beat a P5 team...but humiliates them in their house. The next season, he improves to 8-4/5-3. In his final season, in addition to a winning record, he was beating a P5 BIG team in Q4 (the butt punt changed the dynamic of that game). No scandals, no convicted gang rapists...just Youngstown-style football that made you look forward to Saturdays.

Here's the Wolf record:

2010 Youngstown State 3–8 1–7 9th
2011 Youngstown State 6–5 4–4 T–4th
2012 Youngstown State 7–4 4–4 T–6th
2013 Youngstown State 8–4 5–3 T–2nd
2014 Youngstown State 7–5 4–4 T–5th

One losing conference record...his first season.

About finishing strong, one year his final three games were SDSU (advanced to second round of playoffs), NDSU (eventual champs), and UNI. How many teams that entered the playoffs that year that would've also gone 0-3...prolly most of them. Today we'd kill for a season like that.

And oh yeah....he beat UNI...something his incompetent and lethargic predecessor couldn’t do in 9 tries...

Impressive performance. Only one year of eligibility left, I believe. Seems odd for the deepest QB on the roster to play so well (granted vs SDSU’s subs). Should he have been the starter all along? Are there issues with the coaches evaluating athleticism and skill?

Penguins hope to snap the streak of offensive possessions ending in a pick at 4. Please excuse the spelling errors in the write up by this higher learning institution.

We havent had a pa$$ing game to defend since Hunter Wells graduated.  The offense has regressed since Montgomery left.

Why was his nickname “pick 6”?

People don’t care what conference you are in!  When YSU was D2 during the Narduzzi and Dempsey playoff runs Fitch stadium was full.  When we were an independent the stadium was full.  All programs need fare weather fans that is what fills the stands.  Winning creates excitement. Yes we will probably get some lineman etc.  but are we going to go 9-2 or even 8-3 and win a couple of league championships in 8 years.  I doubt it.

IMO D2 today isn’t the D2 when we were in it. To go D2 now, or even OVC IMO, would be an irreversible retreat and an inch away from dissolving the program.

As I’ve commented before, there is lots of reason to believe that someday (soon) mathematics will matter and the MAC will cease to exist in its current form. At that time, opportunities may arise where a regional FCS conference is formed.

As a side note, our prior MCC and OVC partner, Akron, still lists YSU as a rival on Wikipedia.

The problem, of course, is our wildly incompetent  “ticketgate”, Slocum & Heacock contract renewing AD will certainly blow such opportunity when it arises.

Until the AD is under new leadership, which won’t happen for at least 10 years...the FB program will continue to languish. There is so much that is broken that there isn’t even one solution (like conference affiliation) that will make the program competitive again.

My goals for the program have been lowered to “please just don’t have more scandals.”

Any talk of solutions are only mental gymnastics as long as our current AD somehow remains employed, but here I go anyway….

My suggestion:

For a 3 game OOC schedule: AWAY: 1 P5 $$ game, 1 G5 quasi-$$ game ($300K plus probable short bus commute and reasonable chance of a victory and increased fan interest).  HOME: A red meat game against NEC/PIONEER

For a 4 game OOC schedule: add another P5 >G5……NOT another cupcake.

I get that revenue generation is more complicated than mere scheduling and a book could be written about it. Other possibilities include not alienating fans by recruiting convicted rapists, etc.

I was at the game where we played Western Michigan at their field in a night game. We were down and came back to win. Again we looked overmatched physically, but we had JT as the coach and some good players. I listened to the pregame and post game on thier radio broadcast. Before the game in the pregame they almost wondered why they were playing lowly Youngtown State, a 1AA team. Very interesting Post Game show where they were down and blamed it on many things including just not being up for the game.  Nice ride home.  Almost as good as the time we beat Pittsburgh a few years ago and again listed to their post game show on the ride home.

Sounds like great memories as were mine just listening to the broadcast. Their response sounds a lot like Akron’s after we beat them when Faust was their HC. MAC teams want to be big league but blow snot bubbles when the Penguins beat them.
