YSU Penguin Athletics / Re: Ticket Sales/Attendance ??
« on: December 05, 2016, 06:13:15 PM »
When I spoke to people in the athletic department, they said their phones are ringing off the hook. Plus Tressel and PNC Bank just bought 1,000 student tickets; I would be shocked if there isn't 15,000+ at the very minimum. Here's to hoping for a packed Ice Castle and a Semifinal berth!

I'm happy with the past three weeks and we have improved but anyone who honestly believes we have a chance to keep this game within 14 needs to get a sense of reality. Southern Illinois, Western Illinois and Missouri State are deplorable. I will consider this game successful if we keep it within 3 touchdowns.
Is this the guy who was tweeting a few weeks back he wanted Wolf back?

Is this the guy who leaves early to go watch a high school game? You won't even be there the whole game this week again.

We can complain about coaches all we want but until this team gets more than one leader (Derrick Rivers) and starts to get tougher mentally than we aren't going to be anything more than a mediocre program. I've had season tickets for over 15 years and right now we just need to compete in games and develop a culture.

Sports are about winning and losing but we simply do not have the talent to be anything more than a mediocre program. The fact we even competed with SIU is a huge surprise to me. I fully expected to lose by 3 touchdowns.

This is a win for me, plain and simple. We aren't to the out where we can focus on winning and losing as we simply do not have the talent level or mental toughness of an MVFC team. No sane and smart person should focus on wins and losses for a couple seasons. This rebuild job is a 5-6 year process.

There's a reason fans don't show, this team doesn't win and has not given them a reason to believe we will start making winning plays.

This is why this bum got fired from Nebraska, he couldn't win the big one. This program is done, it's broken and won't win again.

New coach, same old dumb mistakes to lose games. We probably won't win more than 3 games this season.

I'm not going to make any predictions because I don't like doing so but this team is playing with a confidence and swagger on defense. Derrick Rivers is arguably the best defensive player in the country and is making our defense that much better. Illinois State is a tremendously talented team and deserving of their top-5 ranking. Here's to hoping for a packed Ice Castle and a win that could propel us forward.

The bottom line is we are 2-1, just like everyone thought we would and should be. Yes the RMU game was extremely ugly but we found a way to win and we won by defense, when's the last time we could say that? September is for pretenders, November is for contenders. We are far from a finished product and that's honestly how it should be. No team, not even #1 Jacksonville State is where they want to be. I'd rather struggle now and then get in a groove late. Why is '93 still talking about the RMU game anyways? That was two weeks ago and it's time to focus on the real season and that starts with South Dakota.

I understand the fans are frustrated and we all want to win now but we have to trust the process. We all knew there were holes on this roster and Pelini can only do so much with one recruiting season. I will take struggling to win games in September if it means come October/November were fresh and getting into a rhythm. The weather is supposed to be better Saturday for SFU, the fans need to do their part and get down to Stambaugh.

Look I was as frustrated as everyone yesterday about the game. It was painstakingly ugly but sometimes you need to find a way to win. In the last couple seasons, we always griped about the inability to win a close game sans South Dakota State a season ago. I'm not saying we're really good or even good but we're not deplorable. A couple plays early on gave RMU momentum and they started getting confidence. We know how that is for an underdog, we were in that position a week ago. Saturday is another chance to get better and to go 2-1. If any of you forgot, Tressel's 99 team only beat Indiana (Pa.) 13-7 in 72 degrees and clear skies. Now I'm not saying we're going to go 12-3 and make the championship but let's relax and TRUST THE PROCESS.

Atomic Football's predictions!  >:(

http://www.atomicfootball.com/archive/teams/tm_190.html

This is exactly why I won't look at this kind of stuff and the games are played on the field. I'm not going to make a prediction this season as I am not one to do so. Let's enjoy the ride and get out and pack Stambaugh. The winning will come, the team is doing their part and now its time to do ours. Hoping to see a big turnout of YSU fans next Saturday.
