New Specialist just committed, Nate Needham, highly rated from Indiana. Will most likely be the new punter next season. He is also very talented kicker just in case Kennedy has the dreaded Sophomore slump.

Hello Go Guins, I definitely remember you guys, those were great times for our family. We follow YSU closely, I'm sure we always will. Youngstown was good to us.

Zak is gonna be a good one, he already is. The future is bright for that young man. Joey couldn't be happier for him. Last thing Joey wanted was for the kicking game to suffer after his graduation. Thankfully, the current specialist seem to have things under control.

LETS GO PENGUINS !!!!

Kennedy was great....The guy last year was preatty damn good too. Became YSU's all-time career FG% leader. but I'm partial because he's my son. Actually Joey and Zak are very close, they trained together quite often.  Joey is now back in Calif. but he's talk to Zak all the time giving him advise and encouragement.

Why no mention of the Special Teams in the season preview? As the father of the most recent kicker/punter I am disappointed that was no mention of the specialists. I hope this isn't an indication of the quality of that phase of the game.

YSU Penguin Athletics / Pro Day...

I understand that football is having their Pro Day on Monday. Any info as to what time the event will be taking place? How many athletes will be participating?

Just a note to say thanks to the wonderful city Youngstown, Ohio. My family and I have only known you for two years but in that time you have made us feel extremely welcome. We have met the most wonderful people because of YSU Football. Tony and Rita Adams are the best, you made us feel welcome from the start. Those tailgate memories will last forever. We will always be Penguins....

I want to give a SPECIAL HUGE thanks to Coach Wolford. He gave my son the opportunity of a lifetime. He gave him the power to live his dream. He took a kid from California and sold him on North East, Ohio. He believed in him when most didn't. So for that, I can never thank him enough.

Thanks Coach, God Bless and best of luck.

Special Teams were ATROCIOUS today. I've been one of the biggest supporters of the special teams, BUT MY LORD THEY SUCKED TODAY, just embarrassing.

The Special Teams have been improving over the last few games. I don't believe we have given up any big returns in recent games. Cejudo is at the top of the conference leaders in punting and he is one of the best kickers YSU has had in a while.  It looks as if Coach Carter has fixed any problems they had in protecting the punter. GO YSU

Two Penguins have been honored by the MVFC, Derek Rivers on defense. Joey Cejudo on Special Teams. Cejudo also earned National Honors. Congrats to both of them.

Yikes!! Love his kicking ability (xp, fg, and ko) but hopefully YSU has a back up that can get the ball off his toe in under a minute on the punt

I also heard he was injured... Actually two of the three punt blocks were not his fault, those were caused by missed blocking assignments, he never had a chance.  The "Butt Punt" was an obvious error by Cejudo. Lets hope he can go, the back ups are back ups for a reason.
