why didnt his PHENOMINAL 1985 bears like YSU D win the game today? oh wait, the offense gave up all 38 points right?

YSU Penguin Athletics / Gameday

although we are playing a 1 win team, this is still a very important game
cant have a letdown from beating the #1 team, cant be over looking into getting into the playoffs either

need to make a win to stand out to the selection crew

are teams for playoffs picked tonight or tomorrow?

YSU Penguin Athletics / Wolford

should we give him a long term contract extention? he's only 40 and looks like he is building us right back into a powerhouse that we had under Tressel, almost beat UNI, beat the #1 team, beat another top 15 team, and 3 TDs points away from being 10-1, with a top  5 offense in the country after we won just 3 games last year

once the D gets experiance like last years offense did we very well could have anywere from a 9-2 to 11-0 regular season heading into the playoffs and a top 5-10 ranking

he was born and raised in Youngstown, he knows the talent NEO brings, and who knows with him from being around the area this could be his dream job like like Ohio St was Tressels dream job

YSU Penguin Athletics / Just a FWIW
« on: November 13, 2011, 11:15:23 AM »
for those who play NCAA 2012 on PS3 and want to use your Penguins, heres your shot, someone by the name of MucBuck32 created a pretty good and pretty realstic YSU team, composed of Hall of famers and a few current players as fill ins

the ratings seem to be pretty accurate as well, but you can always change those in a dynasty, just a heads-up

the only thing that isnt accurate is the stadium, only because theres none like YSU that you can choose from, and he only did a 2 deep, but thats all you really need anyways

see post #1 YSU picture

also if you read through the forum, mostly comments of we beat our selfs, YSU is an average team, YSU was very beatable etc

just very few giving credit were its due

YSU Penguin Athletics / Offense
« on: November 12, 2011, 07:13:01 PM »
why does the Offense stall out after the 5th possesion?

heard earlier today, YSU scores 92% of the time, in their 1st 5 possesions this year, after that? just a mear 34% between the 6th and 8th possesions, and just 14% in any possesions after that

YSU Penguin Athletics / FANTASTIC WIN!
« on: November 12, 2011, 07:06:35 PM »
last time we upset the #1 team? 1999 vs 'Nova

Fantastic game by Kurt Hess, he played both the leader and game manager and limited mistakes and played smart

86% comp. 2 TDs 1 Int

he now has 21 TDs to just 6 Ints, thats just un-real for a Sophmore, very excited that we have him for what should be 2 more great years

YSU Penguin Athletics / Nick Wargo
« on: November 12, 2011, 12:23:39 PM »
for those who dont follow HS sports
Wargo has lead his team to the regional finals last night in a big win

right now, our future looks bright with 2 more years (i doubt he leaves after next year but hey he's got all the physical intangibles NFL teams look for and just like the ole saying goes it only takes 1 team to fall in love with him) and 3 years of Wargo

Wargo has a very strong arm (better then Hess in HS IMO) and is faster then his 4.9 (maybe mid 4.7's which is Andrew Luck range for comparison) and heres something to think about, he's only in his 1st year of starting and he never took 1 snap as a QB on varsity before this year and is going to a D-1AA school, just imagine if he had 3 years of starting like most top QBs he might be an Ohio St level recruit

Kid is talented, on Maty Mauks level if you ask me

Non YSU Sports / OT: Boosters
« on: October 09, 2011, 11:51:03 AM »
after i heard this news

"...And a FWIW the Word on the street is Les Wexner (2.8 Bil net worth) and Jay Schottenstien (2.3 Bil net worth) are pushing Gene Smith to fire Fickel and Hire Meyer the day right after the Michigan game more and more and have already once threatened to no longer donate to the university..."

it got me to think, do we have any major boosters? and what would Strollo do in this situation?

YSU Penguin Athletics / Stoops
« on: October 08, 2011, 06:58:36 PM »
i know its early in his college coaching career but he is struggling to learn the college game and we just cant afford him to keep coaching the DBs right now

our Pass D has to be bottom 20 in efficency, yards and TDs allowed

i know the D is young (about 90% of the 2 Deep is Freshman and Sophmores)and he just started coaching in college but theres no way we should be 3-3 right now

our offense has played well enough for us to be sitting pretty at 5-1 but im afraid we will finish with no more then 5 wins because we cant stop anybodys passing game

YSU Penguin Athletics / Big recruiting weekend?
« on: October 03, 2011, 07:36:59 AM »
if im the coaches, im bringing in all the local recruits we are going hard after this weekend, they need to see what it means to bring a championship to their hometown, how electric the crowd gets and how great the fans appreciate the players from 20 years ago, we also need an almost sold out crows to make the atmosphere better

they need to see first hand, how much a football national championship means to this city, and they could also talk to former players about it and how proud it made the city and how all the fans waited for them the moment they came back home
