YSU Penguin Athletics / Re: YSU Beeghly facilities upgrade
« on: March 31, 2024, 02:59:17 PM »
33yo, there are over a thousand alumni who have recently sworn to never attend another event at YSU due to the mismanagement of the finances and what that has caused at YSU.  When the attendance at football and MBB drop next year, the University will be wishing they treated some alumni better. Many of us WERE season ticket holders.

The University better not be spending ANY $ on the renovations.  It had better be funded exclusively by outside donors.  Especially after what the administration just did to the Dana School of Music.

YSU Penguin Athletics / Re: Calhoun

I have heard a rumor that Calhoun is going to be an assistant coach with the Boston Celtics.  The dots certainly connect.  The Celtics just took the interim tag off of Coach Joe Mazzulla. Joe worked as an assistant for Calhoun at Fairmont and then was the head coach at Fairmont when Calhoun left and came here.  It's not far-fetched to believe that this rumor might be true.   I heard this information from someone who knows them both in Fairmont WV.

I had very similar thoughts when I read the article.  "A bunch of nothing!". I wish I had those 2 minutes of my life back:).

YSU Penguin Athletics / Re: Football Transfer Additions

I don't see much hear to get excited about:(. Nothing  here compares to the size and pedigree that NDSU is getting once again.  An improved W-L record next season can help but, it is a tough cycle to break.  "You gotta win games to get better players.  To win games, you gotta get better players."

Now that ALL of my professors have retired, I have ZERO reason to return to YSU.  I used to attend a couple of games each year.  But, with the lack of a competitive team and ZERO game day environment, I will spend my Saturdays elsewhere.  It's sad:(. I attended YSU from 1990-1996 and got two degrees.  I was on campus when things were electric.  As someone who lives outside of YTown, I tried to do my part to keep things going.  Until the past couple of years, I still knew all of the starters names, numbers, and stats.  I used to know who YSU was targeting as recruits and wore my Red and White with pride.  It's over!  I'm 50!  I truly believe that in my lifetime I will never see a YSU Championship Football team again:(. I hope I am wrong but, goodbye 'Guins!  Thank you for many years of joy but, at this point in my life, I have better things to do and other teams to root for:(. Thanks for the memories.  Maybe in my next life...

YSU Penguin Athletics / Any word/hype?
« on: August 13, 2021, 08:33:54 AM »
Very little information coming out of YSU Football camp.  Anybody on hear seen or heard anything of significance?  Wondering how the new qb addition looks.  Wondering about some of the transfer additions, too.  Hoping that the team can continue to show growth and demonstrate another step or two forward this fall

If the website and signings are correct, we have 9 qb's on the roster.  That seems about right!  smh

YSU Penguin Athletics / Players Back On Campus?
« on: June 25, 2020, 06:57:58 AM »
Does anybody on here know if/when the players will be allowed back on campus to start workouts?  My neighbor plays FBall at the 1-AA level and he is home here until late July.  I would think that the new coaching staff would want to have as many healthy kids around to work with as early as possible.

Oh Please Ron and JT.  Fire Bo! Go get a hot shot D2 coach or pluck a Coordinator from one of the Dakota's.  Slippery Rock has had GREAT success the past few years with a new coach.  Go interview him.  Please

I have officially sworn off the YSU Penguins until there is a coaching change.  Although I am not a donor to the program, I probably spend close to $1,000 a season between tickets for my family, concessions, apparel, and drinks.  We are done!  I feel bad for these players.  I feel bad for the fans.  I feel bad for the student body.  I wish the current students could experience what I did at YSU in the 90's.

Am I to understand that they are shutting down ALL operations? Not even going to be online only?  Someone surely will fill this void somehow.
