I would be, too, because I doubt they'll ever cap the amount of teams a league can send. But to play devil's advocate, say Pelini can recruit players here because of his name/previous Nebraska ties AND the increased winning in a lesser league drives up more local interest, those could be factors in favor of a switch, or would at least minimize the harm of leaving the MVFC.

Really interesting watching this selection show. The one dude on the end complaining about 5 valley teams making it, says each league should basically be capped at 3...

If they ever wanted to make a rule change like that, would be prudent to find the OVC or another league to join...

Good Lord how do you miss a straight shot 35 yarder wide left, as a lefty, indoors?

Here's my take on reading all of the posts:
Why would any of the Mac schools in Ohio schedule YSU ?
It's a no win situation for them.  If they win, everyone would say well your suppose to win your FBS after all.  But if they loose, they loose a lot more than a football game. They could lose potential recruits that would have gone to their school but now would rather play for the FCS school in state.

I faintly remember the days when the NCAA seemed to care about its minimum attendance standards for FBS/1-A schools. If they don't enforce that anymore, it really takes away leverage we would have to have them schedule us. I mean an Akron-YSU game at Infocision would probably be one of their best attended games of the season. Back then it could have made the difference when looking at average attendance.

There's an article discussing the very topic of minimum attendance.

Would we be willing to do 2 road games for 1 home game? Would Akron or Kent? Maybe we should just suck it up and beat them regardless of where the game is at.

I think more premium seating, even at the expense of overall seating capacity would be worth it. The days of 20,000 people at Stambaugh are long gone. Doing something to update the stadium, generate lots more revenue, and make the fan experience better would be worth it IMO. Maybe the athletic department/penguin club could put out floaters to see what kind of interest there would be along with a hypothetical cost.

And after attending the MSU-OSU game in East Lansing in the club section, climate-controlled seating would absolutely be worth it. Especially considering how attendance seems to tail off toward the end of the season, even when the games are against marquee opponents.

Game sort of feels like NDSU. Decent amount of chances but just kept shooting self in the foot.

On the punt block, it looked like the personal protector on the right side was participating in the mannequin challenge.

1AA ..... I beleve you are based here in Columbus also? We have a direct flight Friday on Southwest arriving around 6. What time you guys arriving?

GOOOOOO GUINS!!!!!!!

I apologize but I cannot go this year. However my group is all still going. Yes the direct flight out of Port Columbus was less than I thought and I probably could have swung it ...only $268 round trip (again non-stop) if we traveled on Friday and Monday. (or Sunday red-eye). Our group is from the Ytown area and will be traveling out of Akron-Canton and it cost them $417 to leave Friday night. They arrive after midnight. I will get their details and let you know.

Assuming that flight goes through Charlotte. Hopefully they get out safe, with no delays. Seems like ATL and CLT connections tomorrow evening may be iffy.

I wonder if we could put in a FOIA for how much YSU bid for playoff games. JMU almost always loses bids to their home playoff games. Heck, it's likely most schools outside of NDSU end up whiffing on the bids. I would think the band should be there, I believe each school gets up to 350 band tickets. JMU can't bring there whole band for the seats but like Jacksonville State last year they may be able to be seated elsewhere.

we've only been outbid once. ever.

that was when EKU had the OVC kick in a ton of money to help with their bid.

My bad for wording that poorly. I meant to say that JMU usually loses money on its bids, but since the EKU debacle they don't care. A concession is that private funds have been available to fill in the gaps, but it still stands that JMU will bid at all costs. I read an article about the 2014 game with Liberty. The school placed a bid contingent upon an attendance of 23,000. Didn't get it, but school still said the bid was worth it. I was just using that to make a point about how just because a school may lose money on a playoff game that shouldn't deter the school from requesting as many championship game tickets as possible.

Population decline is a perfectly valid reason. Also, ESPN3. You just need a cable subscription and a chromecast to watch every game in HD. Look at the bowl games. All levels of football sans the Rose Bowl and the biggest of games have faced attendance declines. Can we do better as a fan base, absolutely. Can the athletic/ticket department also do better? Absolutely.

Yikes. The Madison forum folks have basically been saying they're expecting 10-12 K of their fans. Unfortunately for Strollo I doubt the way the school handled the ticket thing endears themselves to too many rank and file Penguin Club folks. This should've been the perfect year to cash in on all the new enthusiasm, but whatever, hopefully it doesn't matter on Saturday. Just think about how many students they could have sent if they took the full allotment. They sold out of 125 in 45 minutes...

Strollo is full of crap though about only 500-1000 fans being the norm. Maybe for a couple times in Huntington, but if you go back and watch the 99 game on Youtube, they probably had at least a third to half the fans there. An entire sideline is almost red.

This thread is beyond pointless now. YSU dropped the ball on the tickets. I am seriously thinking of dropping my membership and other monies I give.  I guess 2500 to 3k means nothing to them.  Their main selling point it would give me a crack at all playoff tix.  Well that was not true.  I am going to Frisco because I have attended all the championship games. Strollo basically ignored the backbone of the PenguinClub and the diehards for the people in the loges.  You will reap what you sew.

This is where YSU gets hurt. It would be one thing if the only people affected were the ones who never show up, whine, complain, then want to be frontrunners. But this miscue affected most of the loyal fans who actually do what they're supposed to do. If this turns off both the diehards and lukewarm fans, expect even more fans to just sit at home and watch the games live on ESPN3. All it takes is a chromecast. Go Guins and let's not have this happen in future championship seasons.
