Take away Duquense and Robert Morris, and Rickey Davis is overwhelmed.  Any of our four quarterbacks would have looked good against those two teams.

Wells gives us our best shot to win, period.  Davis looked looked lost against South Dakota St.   We don't need a running quarterback.  We need a quarterback who can make 8-12 timely throws on Saturday.  Won't be easy, their defense is very good.
Ricky Davis never played a down in the Robert Morris game. He was out with a concussion that he got the week before against WVU. He came back and with Trent Hosick out for the year and Hunter Wells not practicing, he kept quiet and played 4 games with severe headaches and blurry vision until, after the SDS game, he couldn't take it anymore and went to the doctor, failing 4 concussion tests over the next two weeks, negatively affecting him the rest of his life. So if he seemed a little lost against SD State, he probably was. What else you got Einstein?

I really don't consider 360 yards of offense against the Bison Defense a total A$$ beating we moved the ball between the 20's very good. Yes they had 10 points off of turnovers..Why the hate Mayor?
No hate, just stating the facts. Maybe I'm old school but getting beat by 21 points I consider an ass handed to you game. Go Guins!!

The weather for Saturday is a high of 53. Winds about 7 miles an hour. And steady rain all afternoon. Not sure a passing game is going to work. Need to grind this one out and stay away from fumbles
The latest forecast shows the rain holding off untill 5 p.m. with a light wind. I think J.S.U. will load up the box take their chances and force Hunter to throw. The key here will be pass protection and giving him time to throw..Should be interesting
If I'm playing YSU that is what I would do.  The difference with Hunter is he can drop back and sling it.  I don't believe he ever zipped the ball last year like he did as a freshman.  I think he is now throwing back to form.  I assume something was hurt last year, but have no inside or info to confirm.  In any case we are far better now than the middle of the season.
It might be because we haven't played anybody good since the middle of the season except NDS and they handed our ass to us. :)

Bo pissed off Wells by burying him early in the season who was looking for a D2 school because he can't cut it at this level. Now Davis is upset because he did not get his job back after being healthy. Didn't even mke the trip with the team. What a mess. Need a new QB, need a new OC.
I heard what you heard and I can tell you...nothing can be farther from the truth than what that girl just said. Bo did not tell that girl that. I have been in contact with the trainers and coaches all week. Ricky didn't practice a down all week and spent every day at a different doctors office. More to come but that is nothing but a wrong statement.

I just don't want him running so much.
I understand. Here is his thoughts on it... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54AkH91VuNo

Mr. Davis I hope you are right about Ricky.  I feel he has the heart.  Hopefully he will have the skills....
I just listed the game stats off the YSU website. What do you hope I'm right about?

I agree Ice, but I will say that Ricky had some consistency issues on Saturday ...I would think this played a large roll in running more. Also, Monty did notice USD DE's playing in the flat and the line stacking, so he brought in McCaster (as opposed to Webb) to relieve Ruiz (almost too late in my opinion). I suspect that every opposing DC is going to guard the flat against Montgomery's O ...that is where he likes to run those dump passes to TE's and RB's. We need to add some slant pattern passes into the mix. However if we can get the balance that we need on the ground, I feel better doing that.

While it is on my mind, a message to the fans: Hunter, Ricky and Trent knows how much time is on the clock. Ricky is intentionally using the play clock, this has been a Montgomery tradition since he got here. Both Clemson and Louisville were doing it Saturday night. Stop yelling at the guy ...he knows what he is doing. He is going to make a few mistakes in the timing, that is fine until he gets more experience,  I can live with it.
Ricky's consistency played no role in how much we ran the ball Saturday. He was 10 of 12 passing in the first half and we ran the ball 26 times. He was 5 of 11 in the second half and we ran it only 30 times. I think the game situations played a role in when we ran and when we passed. He had a 65% completion percentage for the game, 15/23. Not the best, but pretty consistent. If Monty is truly your friend, ask him what he thought of his performance, you may be surprised. We got our hands full this week, Go Guins.

What makes it hard to interpret the ooc results is the large amount of games that the MVFC played against the Big Sky.  Statistics mean little because Big Sky teams tend to have prolific offenses but don't play much defense.

I watched much of the Illinois State-Indiana State contest on Saturday and was shocked to see how poorly both teams played defense.  If our defense is as good as we expect, we should do just fine against conference foes that are challenged on that side of the ball.
IDK!! I just hope the "O" we seen so far is not what's to come for the MVFC! Already, top running QB has been out with a concussion   :'(
Again, he was NOT hurt running the ball. WVU players ran past other YSU players to hit our QB during the interception that was called back. It's the only time you can legally hit a QB and they took advantage of it. Part of the game. fb

Even worse. Hurt last year in limited play and already concussed this year in a little over 5 qtrs. I really hate to see anybody hurt but #12 just don't seem to durable for all the running etc. he's expected to do  fb
I don't know why you're saying these things but yes he dislocated his middle finger last year but missed no time and this year he played two quarters after getting a concussion. Seems to me he is very durable. If you want a QB that avoids contact let's go back to what we have had the last couple of years and listen to you b**** about him, or we can go with the JUCO transfer, Really? Or you can try to be fan and root for the team and let's see what happens.  :o

They are also my team, but how do you get them to stop scheduling these poor teams? As nice and approachable as Tressel is, has anybody asked him why we continue to do this? Just wondered.

Far from a hater but a fan but a YSU season ticket holder and. Penguin Club member for 25 yrs that  have seen the program regress and lose its fan base.  We have not made the playoffs in 10 yrs and I want us and Rickey to do well but with all the near misses etc it's hard to believe.  I agree about the WR play it's been inconsistent.  Go YSU!
Well good. Lets all get behind these boys and see what they can do! There will plenty of time to analyze after the season. Football should be fun for the fans and the players. Let's have some fun on here and support our team. :)

Being tough is all good but we and he need to be smart about how we use Ricky.  We all know he is tough.  I want a running QB that's a threat to run, not a threat to pass.  His body of work hasn't showed that's he's a complete QB.  If you would ask any league Defensive coach what 12's tendencies and strength is I am sure the response would be all the same.  Good athlete that can run, still needs work on his pass game .  He reminds me of Pryor to be honest.  Again he has improved and let's hope he continues to develop
His body of work is 1 3/4 games. He runs the plays that are called and if he can get some help with the dropped balls he will get better. He currently has the same completion percentage that Hunter had last year and gives us the running ability. Remember, he led the team in rushing and passing against WVU and didn't play the 4th qtr. Not saying he don't need to improve but he watched other people take all the snaps the last 3 years in games and practices, I would expect a little rust. If you want to be a hater, go on and hate. The Coaches and the players picked him to be the man. Ricky and the Guins are going to be just fine.

Wells is an after thought now, let it go. Same with Mays. Not concerned by yesterday. Obviously they didn't show much of any of the playbook. Hosick left me underwhelmed but as long as Davis is back healthy that's no problem. Onto conference play fellas.
I couldn't agree more. People on here say things like they know what's going on, some of it is comical, but I want to clarify something... people keep saying Ricky got hurt running the ball and needs to be less physical in his play, Ricky was not hurt running the ball against WVU. On the interception that got called back at the end of the first quarter, he was nowhere near the runner and was targeted by a DL and a LB who drove him into the turf face first with both of them on top of him. Bo went to his defense against the refs but no flag was thrown. He played the 2nd and 3rd qtrs a little dizzy. When Bo questioned a decision late in the 3rd qtr he found out he wasn't thinking clearly and took him out. The kid is tuff and we will be good with him at the helm. Go Guins!!

Think Shane and our offense did really good against a Big 12 opponent. Alvin Bailey is a great WR. Losing Webb yesterday hurt us a lot. Unfortunate to see Ricky get injured. I hope he's okay."
