Great news, I see him starting at the 3 spot next year
Hess is an excellent QB and probably will go down as YSU's best. That being said, Russell Wilson is infinitely superior. If Hess decides to leave after next season, he better have graduated because he ain't getting drafted early. He would be lucky to get picked up as a free agent after 4 seasons.

High school basketball in the Mahoning Valley is a wasteland. Can't get any help here. Players in other parts of the country want to come to a basketball school where fans are excited about their game. Hey, thirty years ago, but not now. But there is a potential source of talent that we have largely ignored. Basketball in Europe is vastly superior to what it was thirty years ago. For our community, with over half the population tracing their roots to southern or eastern Europe, this source should have been tapped long ago. And eastern Europeans tend to be taller than say, French or Spaniards. And those players would leap at the chance for an American college education (paid for with their basketball skills.) And there are ethnic organizations in the Mahoning Valley with cultural ties to those ancestral homelands. We should be networking with those folks and seeking info about potential talented teenager players in Lithuania (remember Vytas) Greece, and the remnants of Yugoslavia. And Slocum (or at least one assistant) should fly out there once a year. But that takes money, and we all know that administrative staffing takes priority over recruiting in all sports except football.
the downside is that getting guys from Europe can cause MAJOR NCAA violations as if you're any good in Europe you're getting paid to play, which means you are more then likley going to be ruled ineligable to play in the NCAA. No Reason to take the chance of the Basketball program getting the death penalty just to get some scrubs from europe
I am not saying yeah or nay, but a couple of legendary coaches did it for Butler ...and look where the program is today.

I know the SEC sucks in basketball that's why Kentucky won the champioship and Florida was in the elite 8. Just admit our recruiting needs to keep pace with the rest of the Horizon League.

Transfers may help. Butler has a transfer from Arkansas in Rotnei Clark who averaged 15ppg in the SEC. That is not a type-o. Loyala has Culley Payne a transfer from Iowa who was all newcomer in the Big Ten. Loyola also has a big guy Devin Hill from Depaul coming in. Valpo has a Bobby Capobianco transfering from Indiana. I think Detroit has a transfer in Nolan Dennis from Baylor. All of these are eligible to play this coming season.
Loyola had a great recruiting class plus those transfers so expect them to make a huge improvement next year. Each team in the League is getting players 6-8 or bigger how come we cannot?
If we have two scholarships left then they need to be quality post players 6-8 or bigger.
We may take a step back to the basement next year since the league is loaded and each team is bringing in great talent and size.

I dont think juniors are allowed to be recruited or sign anything...while id like to think she would be actively recruited when shes able to be...she is a national level athlete. Its hard enough to keep talent in Ytown, its gotta be even harder to keep them when they have a free pass to wherever they please.
oh theres no doubt she's not going to YSU. i have a close personal connection with her and her familly (wont say whom or how) and he has zero interest in YSU
Who does as a junior? Its my opinion that the better athletes at YSU end up there...I dont particularly think most of them set out to go there. But things happen, offers come and go, coaches get hired and fired. If shes already ruled YSU out before recruiting even begins, id say thats quite unwise.
