YSU Penguin Athletics / Re: Congratulations to the Cross Country teams

Congratulations to both XC programs!  It was quite tough conditions to run in at the races in Boardman.  Our teams did very well!
It was great to see the league championships & the hometown support.

Bizon - Obviously they are the best team in the country and for good reason.  They know how to win, and how to win in the toughest FCS conference.  We are the last team to beat them, and other than beating ourselves, we have another good shot at competing and winning at home in front of Coach Tressel.
The Guins were the only team to beat them in 2011, but Indiana State was their only loss last year.

Thanks for the correction.  I keep getting lost in the...NDSU winning streak away from home.

Remaining schedule:
South Dakota - I agree with 05 that our offense should outburst and outlast South Dakota.
uni - Appears beat up.  Remember we got the monkey off our back last year.  They no longer "own" us.

SDSU - Zenner has not played up to expectations, but SDSU is still a strong team and could pull out some wins this year spoil some playoffs for unsuspecting teams.

Generally, we are favored in two remaining games by a TD and underdogs in two remaining games by a TD.  I expect that they should all be competitive games.

Where did you get the info that we are favored in 2 games?

Sorry, I know I should be footnoting and referencing all my data.  I am loosely using the one TD as the difference in all of the games.  But generally the computers, including the massey ratings and sagarin ratings linked below have us beating both South Dakota Squads by a TD.

FYI - it only comes after an "a" as in passing but not after "e" such as Hess.  I am sure you can figure it out now.

All too much the fellows in the stands were so worried about the redbirds beating uni last year.  First off, I would never root for uni. Secondly, noone was interested in the game being played (and lost) before our very eyes that day.  So in closing, I will loudly support our Penguinz this Saturday in hopes of a victory.  Likely, I will DVR the announcements and wait to hear our fate before watching it with unbridled enthusiasm.

Congrats on the victory!! It was a stong performance on both sides of the ball including our OL and DL.  I feel as though our team took the NDSU loss too hard, and couldn't get over the hurdle of a victory to get back onto track.  Coming so close to (but not) winning those games has really brought about the worst in all of us.  However, I think we are back on track and project and expect a win this Saturday!!

Based upon the current polls, I don't know that a W against Indiana State is enough to get us in.  Even if all the pieces of the puzzle fell in line.  I will "hope" for it, but will not have any overwhelming expecations.
Even with our win...and the expected NDSU win over Ill St., the polls will line up just like so many other final regular season polls.  A pack of Missouri Valley teams between 18-24.

I woke up on Sunday and I am confident that I did not miss a tackle
I did not miss a blocking assignment, I did not fumble, I did not
throw an interception.....
I just had to sit there and watch that
Do not blame the fans!
It is not their fault what happened

The negative tone around me at the game the past week reminded me too much of being at a YSU basketball game.

I would tend to think that if you post this site that you would be classified as a "fan", short for fanatic.  I relate the word passion with fanatic.  As much as we may have different opinions as to who, what, why, is good or bad, right or wrong with every play, series, game, season, coach or team...I would think that the 3 hours in the stands would be full of positive attitude pushing our team forward.

I do not have a problem when my mother has brought in her knitting /crocheting.  She is not a major fan of football.  She came to my events in high school to support me, my friends, and the community.  Enjoying gameday can be done in many ways...however negative tones by self-proclaimed fans is terrible, and detrimental to the program.

SD Up 24-0 at half time then end up losing 35-24.  ;D

See folks!! Even the big league coaches and players has these days  ::)

I didn't see the game, but when I heard about it, I immediately thought the same thing.  We had a rough game...all teams go through such stretches.  We have a great team.  Now, let's get out there and beat SIU.

I'm hoping our one and only punt pins them deep.  Then we get a safety and the win in a shootout similar to UNI this year, and our past two Ill St contests 44-38.

I believe the article tonight on ESPN quoted Bohl as saying that he would NOT suspend any players.
