Anyone see coach wolford's daughter playing with the dry erase board on the coaches show tonight? Really cute moment playing her dad in tic tac toe

I'm confused, what's wrong with the dry erase board? My kids keep talking about getting one.

Coke did not buy the basketball board, the penguin club did.

Presumably, this guy was hired because of his qualifications for the position. Because of WHAT he knows, not WHO he knows. This just baffles me that a person with the title of Assistant Director of Athletics for Sales & Event Management needs fans and/or the general public to give him ideas on how to better market the program, and on better game day promotions. This is a D1 UNIVERSITY, not a high school with the person working a supplemental for a few thousand dollars, if even that much.

I highly doubt there are many people in that department that have been hired for their qualifications rather than their friends. Typical Youngstown mentality

Is that a fact?

I think Mr. Brown does a good job with sponsorship and marketing. I know a lot of big donors and sponsors who sit in my section at basketball games agree. A Penguin Club board member told me we're the #1 school in FCS/I-AA football as far as corporate sponsor support goes. That money in turn, helps build and update facilities (softball, track, soccer and WATTS).

According to this board member, we're supposed to get a new video board at football as part as switching to Pepsi.

Well, in that case. Go Pepsi lol

Exactly. Ysu gets a lot of sponsorship support. Good for them!

As too the comment of the financial end being short-sighted, its actually quite the opposite.  With the formation of the Big 5, in 5-7 years time I-AA football will either be non-existant or DII.  Only the financially prudent will make  it to D-II.  With YSU's current gigantic budgetary short-falls, the last thing the football team needs at this point is over spending.   OR they can spend like crazy the next 5-7 years, not make it, and then YSU will turn into Eastern Gateway.

Great post Observer. Scalzo doesn't have an inch of economic education. To say only the accountants at YSU care is flat out stupid. Every University in the country is trying to maximize revenue. YSU's athletics department is no different.

If Scalzo thinks beating Ball State is better than making $200,000, well I've got some lakefront property on the South Side of Youngstown in an up and coming neighborhood to sell him.

How about start winning big games.  Get into the playoffs.   Win a few National Championships, become relevant again and the fans will fill the stands and the money will flow.

I think that's what they're trying to do.

By giving them three easy non-conference wins, I'm sure they figure that's one way to get them back into the playoffs. I could be wrong though.

COKE !

Pepsi sucks. If I'm ever stuck in a joint that serves only Pepsi, I'll leave or order water only. That stuff is nasty. Second ranked is 7-Up products, which includes the A & W brand root beer/ cream soda. Even that cheap crap Faygo is better than Pepsi. All I can figure is people who smoke dope or take drugs drink Pepsi as that dulls their taste so that the real taste of that crap doesn't come through. Terrible decision.

Another reason to support Pepsi :)

You have to question Scalzo's journalistic integrity here. I know a lot of people who travel long distances just to come to YSU games because they love YSU football.

You are really going to enjoy the MVFC games .  We'll revisit this thread.

BTW all, here's what paladin said about Hunter last season

Quote
Just a heads up --

The QB situation is truly dark for next  year.  No matter the hype, this kid isn't ready next year for D-I football. I won't be surprised to see them seriously try to recruit a JUCO QB for next year.

Almost 300 years and 4 touchdowns later... But then again, he's the same guy who said Michigan State wasn't good last season. The 4th ranked team in the country wasn't good. So yeahh.....

I agree with the commentor above. It's impossible to give a scoring prediction without knowing who the QB is.

We should not be getting our information from Scalzo. Many of his articles are filled with misinformation.
