They have football recruits in Florida?  LOL 😆
What a novel idea from this staff 5 years later or however long they've been here.

They barely work while school is in session why would u thk they'd be working in July?  The think tank on the 1st floor of Stambaugh is a joke! No fresh marketing ideas for the football season in years! Still using schedule magnets from the 90s to attract dismal crowds.

I wonder what the payout is to Chicago State for the home game? I feel like the athletic department needs to keep the big game revenue (not just football but specifically mens bball) coming just to stay relevant as a department.  Other then the Loges we don't have the ticket sale revenue because of lack of attendance for football anymore.  Strollo does use our geographic location to maximize the big game revenue.  Kudos to him for that.

The only D1 teams that visited Beeghly were Niagara, Canisius and Robert Morris and they are now in the Horizon.  Akron and Kent haven't been on the schedule in years. Something tells me they refuse to come to Beeghly and that's why we don't play them at all.  Central Michigan (I think)  is the last MAC team I recall playing at Beeghly.  There just aren't alot of schools other then maybe St Francis or Morehead.

We may get a check from Toledo and other MAC Teams for road game. Someone else may know if thats the case.   Heck I thk we paid alot of money to get Louisiana to play at Beeghly last year.  I wanna say it was like $40k.  Which to me makes no sense but everyone wants legitimate teams and for good reason at home.  Just not sure thats how things work in college athletics right now. We need to grab the money until things settle down.  I bet Oakland will be on the road for 4,5 or 6 money games this season.

YSU has been selling a bill of goods for a quarter century with the “we have no money” BS. If they really wanted to improve the sports programs, they would find it. What we’re seeing is the results of low coach pay, low recruiting budgets, etc. it has created a product that is inferior in most sports. It’s sad because there is a huge alumni base that would love and support a better product on the field.
Amen! The AD has been the Captain of the Ship for nearly a quarter century.  Before anyone comments about his accolades. The Fifth Ave complex was planned way back in the 90s.  The WATTS is the namesake of the former coach and his wife's family.  The press box and theater in Stambaugh were secured by the former President.  The families clearly stated they donated the funds  because of Tressel during the dedication ceremonies.  Not to mention he secured the intramural field from Cafaros and likely the money from Corelli for the support of the Fifth Ave complex.

I'm sure the Union tried that on Dunn cause he was new and more so an outsider.

People are making moves to protect themselves.  I dont think it's a coincidence that we are now scheduling Villanova and Towson 35 years later.  There is NO one to play that anyone gives a damn about anymore.  Not to mention, Richmond moving to the Patriot league.  The CAA has had a revolving door for the last 10 years.  The OVC has disbanded.  We would be naive to think movement isn't coming to the MVC.

I believe the added football scholarships would require us adding more womens sports or getting rid of mens.

I told you to expect them to be added to the schedule.  Kind of baffled we would have to pay them $100k!

Absolutely delusional.  My concern is we're closing to being in the NEC for football.  I can see it now.  YSU in the NEC western division with Mercyhurst, Robert Morris, Duquesne and St Francis.

The basketball heavy conferences will also have challenges moving forward.  What if the MAC invites Southern Illinois, Illinois State and UNi or all 3? We are toast if something like that happens.  And don't think it can't or won't happen.  The AD and administration better not bury their heads in the sand.  Who saw USC and UCLA to the BIG10?

Its gonna be more about survival then anything.  The Dakota teams will ALL leave when the opportunity presents itself.  A one league for all is the only way we may survive!

It made sense 30 years and it still makes more sense today.  The MAC schools athletic budgets may be similar to YSU'S in the near future.  Ohio has had the largest college enrollment drop in the country.  The cuts for  the MAC schools will surely include athletics.  I'm sure President Johnson sees no benefit to the current league affiliation just like the rest of us.  Cleveland State our ONLY natural rival in the Horizon league is also in big trouble .  The MAC probably feels like they need to expand to stay relevant if thats even possible.  Maybe an invite would make us relevant again. Otherwise we may be done if we aren't already.
