YSU Penguin Athletics / The True State of YSU Athletics
« on: June 03, 2014, 02:47:06 PM »
This post was made in April: http://ysupenguins.com/forum/index.php/topic,8928.0.html

Basically said that Baseball was a loser, women's tennis was a loser and track and field was a loser.

Baseball won the conference championship and competed AND WON at a national level in the Indiana Regional.

Tennis dethroned UIC for the 1st time in 15 years and made it to the NCAA tournament.

Men's and women's track and field won 3 out of the 4 TXF conference championships. Placed 9 Penguins at the national meet, sent 2 athletes to compete at the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP MEET!!!

A question was posed "how long does this 3rd rate athletic dept get a pass  and be allowed to continue on its merry way ?" With 6 conference championships and numerous top 64 finishes between the track, baseball and tennis program on a NATIONAL STAGE, I would say no one is calling YSU 3rd rate anymore.

YSU! YSU! YSU! YSU!!!!

YSU Penguin Athletics / YSU Women's Tennis - CHAMPIONS
« on: April 27, 2014, 06:56:01 PM »
A few weeks ago an ignorant poster made comments about the state of YSU athletics, and said our tennis program was poor.

Make no mistake about it. The women's Tennis Team was the best Tennis program in the Horizon League.

Add the women's championship to the long list of Penguins Athletics Excellence!

It's amazing how much these new facilities have improved athletics as a whole ay YSU.

The softball team just swept first place UIC and are now in 2nd place in the HL!

It's looking like it can be a very interesting season for YSU softball with conference games against the last place and second to last place schools left. Maybe a conference tournament at the brand new softball field.

The State of YSU athletics as a whole looks promising.

YSU Penguin Athletics / Bad Call
« on: March 06, 2014, 08:26:17 AM »
So the Oakland play seems to have taken a life of it's own. Everyone I talk to who doesn't have a dog in this fight tells me it was a bad call. A moving pick/screen. One day I want YSU to get the respect it deserves and actually have a call like that go their way.

What do you all think? Good call or bad call?

YSU Penguin Athletics / Fun Day Yesterday
« on: January 26, 2014, 12:24:34 PM »
What a fun day on the campus of Youngstown State University yesterday. Took my kids to family fun day and they had a ton of YSU athletes. Along with bounce arounds, autographs, etc. Very nicely done. Great way to get young kids on the campus of YSU and make them lifelong fans.

Then both the men's and women's games were a blast to be at. Wins for the good guys and entertainment before, during and after each game.

The Athletic Department gets a lot of unwarranted flack by people on this board. But no one ever gives them any credit. Yesterday was the prime example of why YSU is the greatest school in the state. Proud to be an alum.

YSU Penguin Athletics / Having Fun
« on: January 20, 2014, 11:45:16 AM »
Italian Penguin said a few weeks ago that this is a really fun group to watch, regarding the men. Right after he said that and we lost to UWM on the road, people started mocking IP.

Well if you weren't/aren't having fun at our last two basketball games, then you have some issues. The atmospehere at Beegly has been great and watching KP take oiver games the way he does is awesome. And the women's team has given us something to cheer for on their side.

There's a lot of negative opeople on the board and iun the Valley, but when I look around at the arena, everyone seems to be having a great time. And the crowds are beleiving in this team too.
