Since we had no attendance with Saturday's weather, many do not know ...but YSU now supports (or is supported by) Pepsi. To me this in unacceptable. I am a Coke person. I am going to see what Pepsi gave us for the deal and see if we can get a momentum swing back to Coke.

Pepsi is the best soda drink in the world. You heard that from me here and now.

The absolute last thing that I want to do is get into a fight over a soft drink. But in numerous national surveys, people prefer Coke over Pepsi. Why is this important to us? Because in the last contract with Coke, the athletic department received a percentage every time somebody on campus fed a Coke machine. Unless the new deal with Pepsi is very lucrative, I fear that consumption on campus will decrease as will the share going back to athletics.

I think that you will find that Coke paid for the Beeghly and Ice Castle scoreboard expansions as well. Nothing wrong with showing a little support for your team or your soda pop.

Strollo insinuated the deal was better than the current Coke deal when I talked to him about a month ago.

Yes it is serious. If you support Coke and YSU, what does it hurt to sign the petition? You do not have to register.
In the mean time, everyone bring in a bottle of Coke and drink it at the games. Or at go out and buy a Coke cup and drink the beer and water from it.

I prefer Pepsi, so I'm glad they made the switch. When I was on campus in the mid-80's, I would make the trek to Ward Beecher to visit a lone Pepsi machine that resided in its depths.

When I was on campus, they had RC Cola. That was because Arby's sold RC.

For what it is worth, I remember the Pepsi machine in Ward Beecher... There was also a machine in one of the study lounges in Williamson Hall that had one slot for Pepsi. Burger King was another place to get Pepsi Also remember when Arby's sold RC products.
And, I was a student at YSU taking post grad classes in 97-98 when entire campus was Coke only. That stunk!!!!
While majority of machines where Coke when I was at YSU from 86-91, at least there were a few machines on campus with Pepsi, plus Arby's had RC. I always liked RC. I'd put RC ahead of Coke, with Pepsi #1.
Although, when it comes to the "limen" flavored drinks, Sprite is way better that Slice, so Coca-Cola company has Pepsi beat on that flavor.
Damn, typing this makes me feel old. Oh well could be worse. At least I'm young enough to not have been a student at Youngstown University or Youngstown College... GO YOCO!!!!!! ;D

Pepsi sucks. If I'm ever stuck in a joint that serves only Pepsi, I'll leave or order water only. That stuff is nasty. Second ranked is 7-Up products, which includes the A & W brand root beer/ cream soda. Even that cheap crap Faygo is better than Pepsi. All I can figure is people who smoke dope or take drugs drink Pepsi as that dulls their taste so that the real taste of that crap doesn't come through. Terrible decision.
